Adela Schulz and Parker Richardson speak about the opportunities afforded by medical congresses for customer engagement during NEXT Pharma Summit today. There is more information available to HCPs than time available. Adela believes it is therefore important to rely on summarisation and bite size imormation for more effective engagement avross multiplechannels. Meanwhile, providing context to HCPs around events, based on clinical research publications highlights, can also provide more incentives for HCPs to engage with #healthcarecontent. ##hcpengagement

Last panel of day 1 at the NEXT Pharma Summit discusses the changing role of MSLs towards great #customercentricity, moderated by Steve Royle. Tamara Krcmar feels that MSLs have to be able to tell a story around innovative medicines and not just share dry data points. We could not agree more at SciencePOD. Monika Mortensen believes that MSLs should be able to discuss the data with HCP not just share it. This requires soft skills to pull up information to effectively engage with HCPs. Rodney B. Smith advocates for the need to convey the patient perspective to HCPs. Although there is a string sense that the role of MSLs needs to change, they need to be coached to handle a more customer centric approach with HCPs, including gathering insights from.them to communicate back to the company. #medicalaffairs ##hcpengagement

Miriam Schulze you pointed out one main challenge: lack of reimbursement, but that is certainly not the only one. In my experience the current IT environment in hospitals is not yet set up to accommodate easy implementation of CDSS. Nobody wants any extra workload, thus connectivity (if not integration) to EMR or PDMS is a requirement that is difficult to accomplish. Furthermore, there are still many misconceptions and lack of understandings what CDSS is, what it can do, what it cannot do and how it is supposed to provide. The hype around AI is not helpful because it causes more irritation than information. We all - patients, providers, payors and the indistry - need to educate and be educated. CDSS will become a standard tool in healthcare that helps to improve medical outcome by standardizing clinical decision making, eliminating bias and human error and providing a level and depth of knowledge that an individual human cannot apply. BUT it is just one piece of the puzzle.
Have you ever wondered why Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) are not a hot topic in healthcare conversations? It may be because their integration into our daily lives isn't as prominent as we would expect. CDSS are sophisticated tools designed to support healthcare professionals in making informed decisions, aligning closely with medical guidelines for improved patient outcomes. Yet, the path to their widespread adoption is not without challenges. To me it feels like that regulatory barriers and the limited reimbursement options often relegate these innovative systems to being a DIY project within academic and hospital settings, rather than a mainstream solution embraced by the healthcare industry. As I prepare to present my insights on CDSS at the upcoming PDA - Parenteral Drug Association conference on "Medical Devices and Connected Health" conference, I'm curious to hear your perspectives. What are your thoughts on CDSS, and how do you see them shaping the future of healthcare? So, see you in Antwerp, Belgium from 04-05 June 2024. #HealthTech #CDSS #InnovationInHealthcare #ClinicalDecisionSupport #DigitalHealth
