Continuing with our Heritage Month series, today we feature Nadine Cochrane, Management Accountant at Hobbs Sinclair, who shares a timeless Afrikaans saying: "Vele hande ligte werk." (Many hands make light work) Meaning and significance: This phrase highlights the value of teamwork and collaboration, reminding us that when people come together and lend a helping hand, the burden is lighter for everyone. It’s a beautiful reflection of the power of community and shared effort. Culture: Afrikaans #HeritageMonth #CulturalWisdom #Teamwork #ProudlySouthAfrican

A fact about being observant is that it enhances your ability to notice details and patterns that others might overlook. This heightened awareness can lead to better problem-solving skills, improved memory retention, and a deeper understanding of your surroundings. Being observant also helps in building stronger relationships by showing attentiveness and empathy towards others. #onebarrow #observe #organisation #attentive #observant #world #organisation #growth #attentive #problemsolving #nigeria #africa

Managing multicultural teams can be challenging, but focusing on our interconnected cultural heritage can transform our approach. I once worked with a diverse team where initial misunderstandings turned into strengths once we realized assertiveness from one member was their way of ensuring group success. This article from Forbes reveals that many traits we associate with Western individualism were actually borrowed from ancient cultures like the Arabs and South Asians. Discover these insights and more to help foster a more inclusive and effective team. #ADCEEambassador #ADCEasternEurope #ALTEN #WorkTogether #Poland #Romania

“People with lived experience are waking up to realise… we have agency and power to change things, to confront the system” – Conference participant. In April of this year, Migration Exchange co-organised the Reclaiming Lived Experience Leadership conference with Freedom from Torture, Refugee Action and Refugee Council. It was a day full of amazing insights from people that work in and fund the UK refugee and migration sector. To capture and share the learnings and key insights from the day, we have put together a report. In this event we explored three key areas: defining lived experience leadership, identifying and dismantling barriers to power, and enhancing career opportunities. 💡 If you are interested in hearing more about these discussion, visit our website to download the report: https://bit.ly/4czNQ9O

"ዝምታ ወርቅ ነው" Vs "ካለመናገር ደጃዝማችነት ይቀራል" The Ethiopian proverb "ዝምታ ወርቅ ነው" (Silence is Gold) reflects our deeply rooted cultural value of humility. This wisdom has guided us for generations, fostering respect and measured communication. However, today's dynamic professional landscape demands a critical reevaluation. Many Ethiopians naturally shy away from self-promotion, fearing the label of "ጉረኛ" (boastful). However, advocating for our skills and experience is essential for career advancement. Visibility matters. By transforming self-promotion into a tool for empowerment, we can confidently share our achievements without compromising our core values. Another proverb, "ካለመናገር ደጃዝማችነት ይቀራል" (he who speaks less misses Dejazmach (lordship)), emphasizes the importance of speaking up. It's about finding the right balance. Showcasing our expertise benefits not only ourselves, but also inspires others within our community. We can highlight our strengths and accomplishments while focusing on the value we bring to a team or position. This approach allows us to celebrate success without excessive self-promotion. So, let's go out and confidently share our true achievements. Let's utilize our strengths and inspire others to do the same. This balanced approach, informed by our cultural wisdom, will pave the way for individual and collective success within our professional sphere.

The African diaspora stands as a formidable economic powerhouse, leveraging global networks to create vast opportunities and make significant contributions to the global economy. However, there's a pressing need for inclusive policies to harness this potential fully. As an African-native professional, my journey is driven by hard work and unwavering integrity. We don’t seek approval through flattery; our achievements are born of relentless effort and determination. Every challenge we face is an opportunity in disguise, and we meet them head-on with a resolute spirit 💪. Our focus isn't on seeking easy praise, but on delivering consistent results and exceptional experiences to our customers. True success isn't measured by applause but by the lasting impact and quality of our work, both within and beyond our industry. In a world where many seek shortcuts, we build our path with dedication and perseverance. We are not here to please; we are here to excel 🎯. Focus on your journey, let your work speak volumes, and never be distracted by the noise of naysayers. Stay true to your values, work hard, and let your success be your voice 🏆. ➡️ Maison SEPTEM #AfricanDiaspora #EconomicPowerhouse #GlobalNetworks #SignificantContributions #InclusivePolicies #HardWork #UnwaveringIntegrity #ChallengeEqualsOpportunity #NoToFlattery

What makes you different amongst other Africans? Your culture! What makes you unique in foreign countries? Your culture! It can be seen in your names, your attire. You represent your culture in diverse ways.Sadly, the Gen-Z's and future generations have little or no knowledge of their heritage because we no longer take pride in it as it was afore years. It is time we wake up! Our Cultural Heritage can only be a treasure to the world when we take pride it. Come one, come all. Support this movement to promote our indigenous knowledge.#KeepIndigenousKnowledgeAlive#IamsettochangeAfricaforourfuturegenerations#OneMillionLeadersAfrica#MinistryofArtsandCulture#Leadership#Sustainability#IamanOMLAchampion

🌟 **From Struggle to Success: Faris Aranki's Inspiring Journey** 🌟 Conflict can reshape lives, often in profound ways. Faris Aranki - Strategy and Emotional Intelligence knows this all too well. Born to P@lestinian immigrants in London, Faris's early years were marked by his family's displacement following the 1967 Six Day War. Growing up in a household clinging to its P@lestinian roots while embracing a new life in the UK, Faris navigated a complex identity and the harsh realities of his heritage. At seven, a visit to his grandparents in P@lestine during the First Intifada changed everything. The chaos and violence he witnessed ignited a deep understanding and anger at the injustices faced by his people. This awakening shaped Faris's perspective, driving him to reconcile his P@lestinian identity with his British upbringing. His transformative journey continued with a gap year in Nepal, where he gained independence, lost weight, and redefined himself. This experience propelled him to reconnect with his roots and embrace his P@lestinian identity fully. Faris’s professional journey is equally remarkable. Starting in education and then moving into strategy improvement in the energy sector, he finally established his consulting firm, Shiageto Consulting, in 2019. Despite a rocky start during the COVID-19 pandemic, Faris's resilience and innovative approach, blending IQ, EQ, and FQ, have led to a thriving business with clients like Amazon, Heineken, and Anglo American. **Stay tuned for the full article release this Friday at 7 AM EDT / 12 PM BST!** Learn more about how Faris Aranki turned personal challenges into professional triumphs and why he is recognized as a Top Leadership Development Voice, Top Facilitation Voice, and Top Emotional Intelligence Voice. 🌍✨ **Alt Text:** Faris Aranki, a smiling man with short dark hair, is wearing a navy blue coat over a light blue button-up shirt.
