Her highlight reel, boasting 1.3M views on the NFL YouTube page, outshines even the most anticipated moments like the final play, last drive, and trophy presentation. It's a vivid illustration of the undeniable synergy between sports and pop culture, showcasing how leveraging icons like Taylor Swift can attract new audiences to the sports realm. As athletes increasingly focus on building their personal brands beyond their athletic achievements, collaborations with megastars like Swift are becoming the norm, ushering in a new era of fan engagement and brand recognition. A company is not a family. Netflix says it's a sports team. I think both are flawed metaphors but Netflix's is better. Here is why: Companies are a relatively new social structure. They are often bigger than a family or a tribe. Many are larger than Dunbar's number. Their myth (story) is not as deep or as strong as that of a religion, ethnicity or nationality. The company is usually a temporary structure, and membership is even more temporary. Belonging to the structure is based first and foremost on mutual benefits, and both sides are usually quite easy to replace. Families are small, permanent, and almost impossible to replace. So it's safe to say companies are not families. But are they like a sports team? The idea that each person must be a high performer, and play for the team, is a strong metaphor. The idea that you are judged continuously for performance, not tenure, paid for your performance let go when it's not beneficial for the company also seems a lot more honest to reality. But, sports teams are usually very small, have extremely clear objectives and rules. Companies are large, so that's already a big difference. You don't know most people and cannot develop trust with them. Companies have shifting goals which you are not always aware of, different sub groups have different agendas, and the rules of conduct are vague and vary per company. So again not like sports teams where the why, the what and how are super clear. Bottom line companies are large, temporary, low affinity, transactional, complex and ambiguous social structures. They are neither like families, religions, or sports teams. It's possible that leaders try to come up with metaphors to explain companies, simply because companies are hard to define... The city of Cleveland needs to heavily consider the economic impact this disruption could make by not having the Browns stay in their current downtown location. Why? Well, turns out Douglas Park, got double-booked with Riot Fest. Red Stars President Karen Leetzow didn't mince words, "It is unfair and unfortunate to have our club put in this situation, shining a light on the vast discrepancies in the treatment of women’s professional sports vs. men’s professional sports." She's got a point, doesn't she? Now, let's play devil's advocate for a moment. Picture this: if it were a men's pro team facing the same double-booking dilemma at Douglas Park, would we see the same? Probably not. They tend to have more backup options, more clout to negotiate, and let's face it, a smoother path to getting things sorted. This situation with the Red Stars is more than just a scheduling hiccup. It's a neon sign flashing "inequality" in bold letters across the sports landscape. Women's sports leagues and teams deserve the same respect, resources, and problem-solving prowess as their male counterparts. A Tale of Two Players: Who depicted Sportsmanship and who flaunts Rationality? Well, initially I presumed,the player B giving up the game for Player A was a sign of great sportsmanship depicted by Player B. But wait! Watched, re-watched, re-re-played and analysed deeper and more and.. Bang on!! it's a Eureka moment✨ 'Player A', despite sustaining an 'injury mid-game', demonstrated unwavering determination and resilience and refused to give up despite the pain. Her tenacity and commitment to the game epitomized the essence of 'sportsmanship,' showcasing courage and dedication in the face of adversity and her determination. Whereas, 'Player B' recognizes the severity of "Player A's injury" and that's where she chooses 'rational decision- making' over 'sportsmanship' to end the match rather than capitalizing on her opponent's vulnerability. Her empathy and consideration for her competitor's well-being exemplified rationality, prioritizing human values over the desire for victory. Reflecting on this encounter, it's evident that "Player A embodied sportsmanship", and upholds the 'spirit of competition with integrity and fortitude', while "Player B's rational decision" underscored the importance of 'empathy and ethical conduct' in competitive settings. At first glance, the three-year deal between Netflix and the National Football League (NFL) might not seem significant as it only includes two exclusive streaming matches. This December 25, Netflix will be the exclusive global destination for the NFL’s two Christmas Day marquee games: the Super Bowl LVII-winning Chiefs vs. the Steelers and the Ravens vs. the Texans.
