As a professional, why airtightness test a building pre-retrofit?
By baselining a building before you start specifying a retrofit, you can focus efforts where the real issues are on that particular building.
Hi, my name's Diane Hubbard and I'm going to talk to you for a couple of minutes about why you should consider getting a an airtightness test done pre retrofit as a professional. I spend quite a chunk of my life uh testing existing buildings and my academic research area is in pre 1900 houses in the UK. Um, When you're specifying a project for a client, you clearly need to consider what their objectives are from the project. And I come from an engineering background and you know one of the basic principles that is in place in that industry is that you need to establish where you're starting from in order to get where you're going to. And that's really what the best baseline test is all about. You know our buildings, there's a whole variety within our buildings, you know, not all 1950s buildings at the same, just in as not all pre 1900 buildings are the same. We need to know exactly what we've got. So you can tell with your limited budget that you have from the client whether you need to be focusing on air tightness or ventilation or a combination of the two. So that's what the diagnostic test will give you. Thanks. And please see my other videos for more detailed information. Thank you. Bye.
