Partner at SpendLab | Generating liquidity in accounts payable management | Service based on the 𝘯𝘰 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘯𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘺 principle
Last Thursday in Den Dolder, together with Network C and sponsored by SpendLab, we welcomed Lucy Slinger, Deputy CFO of Ingka Group (IKEA), to explore the theme "Leadership of Purpose and Profit." Lucy introduced the topic through the lens of Ingka Group’s unique structure and core values, setting the stage for a deep dive into #transformative leadership. What really captivated me was how IKEA’s foundation-owned structure, combined with its vision and culture, enables profitability AND significant contributions to society and the environment. And how its setup and values go all the way back to its founder whose memory is still strongly alive in the company. Some companies and boards work hard on creating the values they believe are needed in today's world. Is this possible? Or can you only highlight what is already there? This perspective came to mind while comparing the different beautiful living organisms that organizations are, during the discussion at the table with IKEA. Our discussion highlighted how strategic recruitment based on values (with the risk of creating your own bubble) support organizational culture and direction. It emphasized the need for leaders who combine competence, empathy, and courage. This resonant reminder of the human aspects behind our roles was enlightening. What struck me the most in the end was this thought: It's a particularly challenging time to be in business, with vast opportunities lying ahead that require us to approach challenges with the perspective that there are tremendous opportunities. A heartfelt thank you to Lucy Slinger for her insightful contributions and to all the participants for their engaging and open perspectives. Also, special thanks to our in-house chef for the culinary delights that perfectly complemented our conversation. As Kevin Mottard and I prepare for the next round table in Paris, I'm invigorated by the thought-provoking discussions and actionable insights we've collected. Stay tuned for more! #Leadership #TransformativeLeadership #IKEA #IngkaGroup #BusinessStrategy #CorporateValues #Sustainability #CultureAndLeadership #CFOInsights #OrganizationalDevelopment #SocialImpact #ProfitWithPurpose #SpendLab #NetworkC #LeadershipMatters

CEO | Board Director | Ex-Abercrombie & Fitch, Garage, Curaleaf | Keynote Speaker | Culture Warrior | Recruiter | Cannabis & Retail | P&L Driver | Talent Manager
In the rapidly evolving #cannabis industry, #culture shouldn't be just a buzzword - it should be at the center of what we are building. A positive culture is essential for fostering innovation, resilience, and community. This understanding is critical for all leaders. When a positive culture is absent, teams lack trust, respect, and authenticity. The tension is real and everyone knows it. We have all experienced organizations where these traits are missing, and the impact is profound. On the other hand, when a positive culture is present, we create an environment where our teams are empowered to be the best versions of themselves, where open engagement is the norm, and where the best ideas rise to the surface. The culture we build is what sets us apart - for better or worse. #sales #retail #wholesale #management #leadership #marketing #digitalmarketing #socialmedia #humanresources #technology #finance #hiring #inspiration #motivation #futurism iAnthus #culturewarrior

TFM Top 100 Marketing Influencers 2024 | Top Digital Strategy Voice | FMCG eCommerce thought leader | Ex Sr Director Digital & eCom @Mattel EMEA | P&G Alumni | Helping Digital & eCommerce leaders drive change that sticks
Exhausted by “change fatigue”? Get your mojo back - 7 tips to stay motivated in times of change: Change has been a constant in my life. I was born in the North of Italy, but spent 17 years of my life in London. Now I'm back in Italy, but living in a totally different part of the country from where I grew up. Being an expat in my own country is a transformative journey in itself! Professionally, I started working in FMCG eCommerce in 2007 - way before it was fashionable. I had to convince my colleagues and managers that retail was changing fast, and that we needed to transform with it. Later, as a Director of Digital Marketing, Media & eCommerce in Mattel, I set-up a 35-people department nearly from scratch, and launched direct-to-consumer eCommerce in 5 markets. The common denominator throughout these experiences has been initiating and driving change to impact the behaviours, ways of working and results of people beyond my immediate team. Then, in 2022, I founded Hen's Milk to help Consumer Goods & Retail leaders drive change that sticks. In short, I'd say I know a thing or two about change… One thing I know is that leaders in corporate roles need to stay enthusiastic and motivated to drive change - and help their teams through it. But it’s not easy. If you feel exhausted from change fatigue, here is how to overcome it: #transformation #leaders #digitalmarketing #changemanagement #changefatigue

Designing and dominating a new category demands more than just innovation; it requires a visionary approach that redefines the market itself. The secret? Don’t just compete- create. We, as innovative leaders, have the duty to not only be part of the industry but also to pioneer it with groundbreaking strategies that challenge the norm. Consider Airbnb’s founder, Brian Chesky. Chesky did not just offer another alternative to hotels, he revolutionized the concept of travel accommodations with the motto “live like a local.” Hence, in our pursuit of being true innovators, we need to follow in Chesky’s footsteps. The focus is not on providing a new solution, but on addressing how to create and dominate a new category. At Danone Japan, our ultimate aim is to redefine what a category can be. Our focus is not to only capture a small piece of an overly competitive existing market but to create a new space where we can solve an unmet underlying consumer need and set the rules This is how we lead—imagining what others don’t even dare to imagine. Let’s inspire and lead a change. How are you rethinking your approach to innovation and market creation? #Innovation #Leadership #MarketCreation

Since around December, I have had the opportunity to visit my teams across India, Thailand, Singapore, China, and Australia. And at each stop, I have been very deliberate about one thing. Connecting individually with the incredible and diverse range of managers within my different teams. I think, all told, I've had over 50 one-on-one sessions. And every single one has taught me something. Whether it's more about the unique essence of the people within my teams or a broader, panoramic understanding of the entire system - each conversation has been littered with actionable insight. Which brings me to my greatest insight of all, and the very reason I embarked on this mission to begin with. Real, impactful leadership is about opening a two-way street of communication. It's about listening—truly listening—to each individual. Every meeting, every discussion, has reinforced my belief that our teams' insights and perspectives are invaluable. More than this, I've seen firsthand and been consistently inspired by the dedication and passion our managers have for their work. I've heard their challenges, their successes, and their visions for the future. And already, it is making a big impact. More trust, more understanding, and better, more streamlined collaboration, to name but a few. Each conversation was a learning opportunity, a chance to see our operations through their eyes and to understand and integrate their unique contributions to our collective success. So, to all the managers and team members I've met, thank you for your openness, your hard work, and your commitment to excellence. Together, we're shaping the future of Welbilt in Asia and, with it, the entire food and beverage industry. #Teamwork #Leadership #Communication #EmpathyFirst #Welbilt
