Almost 21 million Americans have at least 1 addiction, yet less than 10% receive help. That’s why we’re on a mission to offer Christ-centered addiction recovery services to as many men and women as possible. However, fighting addiction is a full team effort, and everyone has a role. Including — and especially — you. Even if you are not the type to make New Year’s Resolutions, many of us still take the time to think about what we can do differently. We ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with us in 2024. Maybe you become one of our GraceGivers, our community of monthly financial givers, and support our Home of Grace Scholarship Fund, allowing us to make our services more accessible to those in need. Maybe you and your local church volunteer at our Men’s Campus, Women’s Campus, or through community outreach efforts. Maybe you help coordinate fundraisers through garage sales, car washes, Facebook campaigns, etc. Will you join us? Our work to end the addiction crisis can’t start without your support. Please help us help people find freedom from addictions. If you want to know how you can get involved as an individual, a church, or a business, visit us at https://lnkd.in/d6qiKCD or call us at (228) 826-5283.

Our addiction wants us to be alone... In active addiction, shame, fear, self-judgement, and stigma often drive substance users into isolation. We end up using alone, and sadly, too often, we die alone. The opposite of addiction is connection. As a community, we need to work on compassion and understanding; we need to collectively work to reduce stigma and create safety for individuals who struggle with their substance use. As a society, we need to create more opportunities and lower barriers to accessing treatments and other life-saving interventions that allow substance users to realize sustained recovery from active addiction. As substance users, we need to resist the pull to isolate and use alone; the answers we need are found in community; you do not need to do this alone. Umbrella Society is here to help support you throughout your journey to recovery. Recovery is a journey for everyone, and on that journey are the family and friends supporting their loved ones every step of the way. Tim Evans found recovery through Healing Transitions and is an alumnus of our long-term recovery program. His parents Lee and Rebecca Evans, share how the family group has affected their journey. “It is hard to list all the ways the family group has helped us since we first started attending in June of 2021. Among the ways it helped us understand the recovery process includes: addiction is a disease; we didn’t cause Tim’s addiction; we could not cure it; there is no shame in addiction; enabling Tim for many years probably delayed his recovery; his recovery journey is his own, and we could not control it; our family needed to recover; recovery is a life-long, daily process; to work, recovery has to take priority over all things; relapse is part of recovery; and recovery from addiction is possible.” -Lee and Rebecca Evans Double your dollar to help us reach our remaining amount of $9,854, supporting individuals in recovery and their families: https://lnkd.in/etNiyBHG #FamilyStrong #RippleEffect #Recovery #CommunitySupport #LongTermRecovery #DonateToday #HealingTransitions

RAGE AGAINST ADDICTION INC held its 10th annual Memory Walk & Recovery Run fundraiser. This significant event unites families, fostering healing from the profound impact of addiction and inspiring hope for recovery. On Saturday morning, experienced runners and casual walkers alike, dressed in their best athletic outfits and joined by their families and friends, participated in a run to support the fundraiser. It was a superb tabling event we are pleased to have participated in along with other organizations and partners. The current global situation presents undeniable challenges. Stress, uncertainty, and isolation are understandably affecting many, and it’s conceivable that some might resort to unconstructive coping methods. However, amidst these difficulties, let’s focus on a powerful and optimistic message: recovery is not only possible but more essential than ever. #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #wellbeingwednesday #recoveryjourney #addictionawareness #addictionrecovery

Helping professionals reclaim their life from another's addiction and have the best chance possible of motivating them to make a change. Join the free FB Group facebook.com/groups/notmyaddiction
My posts this week have been based around #YoungCarersActionDay where I'm highlighting the needs of children living with family addiction. Check out my other posts if you haven't seen them. Here's how we can ensure we mitigate any risks to children who are being affected by this. It can and does have a profound impact on children, so the important thing to do is not try and manage everything yourself! I always suggest to my clients to let nursery, school or college know what's going on at home. This is a scary thought as people tend to want to protect their person, or doesn't want to betray their trust or worries about children being removed. Unfortunately, when it comes to children, we need to prioritise their needs over everyone else's because they are children. As adults, we need to take the worry and stress away from them in any way we can. Letting professionals know, means children can speak to someone outside the family home and often feel more comfortable doing this with people not emotionally attached to the issue at home. This will be addressed in a way that parents or carers ask. An Early Help assessment is another option, which can be requested by school or children's services. This explores the needs of the child and brings any services together. It also takes the pressure off clients because they get a team helping them. They can also access support through funding sometimes like counselling or play therapy. There are local authority funded drug and alcohol services in every locality. They may well have funding for support for children. It's well worth checking out over on Google. Give them a call and ask. There are national charities like @nacoauk who do fab work with children, young people and adults affected by parental addiction. Check them out. Even if it's just to get educated. Of course, you can come and work with me and I will advise and guide you through your #familyrecovery journey because I have two decades experience in supporting families affected by addiction and I'm happy to help you too. Community Compass: Navigating Support Services | May 14 @ 6PM We know addiction treatment should be accessible to everyone, but there are outside barriers that can lead to complications in receiving it. From government organizations to charities and nonprofits, there's a world of programs patients, families, and supporters can access with the right assistance. Former Small Business owerner Currently a Volunteer Crisis Counselor working to save one life at a time
As you may or may not know I volunteer with the NYC American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - New York City Chapter One of the things I do are presentations. One is "Talk Saves Lives" which is slide deck on mental health and suicide. It's an excellent deck on understanding suicide and what we all can do to #suicideprevention Its focus is for adults. Perfect for your organization, group, work, etc. Can be done over Zoom. The other one I've been doing is called "It's Real". This is for middle school, high school, and college students. Its focus is on mental health. I've given it and though kids seem to drift into space I will say each time I got a huge round of applause. Not apple sauce. The link below will hook you up with a Program Request Form. If you would share this far and wide. Think about it for your org, church, community center, etc. You can request a program at the link below.

Picking your #cause is about consciously choosing to have an impact or make a difference. I have a few key causes; free healthcare to those who need it. In the US, this is not always possible, and groups like The Good Shepherd Clinic in Atlanta are incredible in helping those who need it most in Clayton County with valuable services. In Sydney, Exodus is extremely important to the community. Everyone knows someone who has had a problem with drugs, alcohol or mental health. While we "think" there is a lot of support out there, try booking someone into seeing a psychologist fast (not possible -- bookings are months out) or rehab. Furthermore, domestic abuse. 111 women have already died in Australia this year. Can you imagine that? Crazy. At what point are we not consciously trying to change this? Well, the good news is that Exodus is trying to change, help and support these causes - but they need you. Donations are all put into the right places (not high salaries or perks like some others). They actively and consciously provide programs and support for those who need it most. www.exodus.org.au #donate #makeadifference
Drug and alcohol addiction exacts a heavy toll, tearing families apart and robbing lives of potential. At Exodus, we recognise the profound impact on individuals and families, applauding the courage it takes to seek change. If you've chosen to break free, we stand with you. Our support system addresses addiction at its core, offering a path to a fulfilling, substance-free life. In our addiction therapy sessions, guided by skilled counsellors, we reach the roots of addiction, providing coping strategies for sustained recovery. Our support extends beyond therapy; personalised case management explores the intricacies of addiction and recovery. With Exodus by your side, you're never alone; together, we rebuild, restore and empower, one step at a time. Your recovery is our mission and we steadfastly stand by you through each turn.
