We’re asking housebuilders and Registered Providers looking to buy or sell homes built as part of Section 106 planning agreements, to maximise use of our new clearing service. Almost 300 organisations have already signed up to the tool, which aims to give greater visibility of opportunities to get affordable homes sold and occupied. Registered users, especially sellers, are urged to continue their support by providing crucial details in addition to basic registration information, such as site location, construction progress, number of homes and types of tenure. EWS1 crisis - potential fraud causes Liberal Democrat MP to speak out. Urgent question in Parliament tabled. * Lending / Insurance may not lend if TriFire have signed the EWS1 form. How many more EWS1 forms are potentially fraudulent? Who else is putting lives at risk? This is a symptom of a wider problem of lack of consumer protection legislation for buildings. The insurers and lenders developed EWS1 because trust in compliance with building regulations has broken down. We need the Earl of Lytton's buildingsafetyscheme.org consumer protection legislation for buildings to restore trust and eliminate the need for EWS1.
It’s encouraging to see Homes England’s clearing service providing additional support for the stalled 17k Section 106 homes, following developers having already concluded their usual efforts to identify a buyer. The Affordable Housing Network, however, is focused on simplifying the process of connecting Developers and Affordable Housing Providers. Our dynamic platform offers a more direct, transparent approach, providing custom alerts so users are only notified when deals align with their specific requirements. This means no more constantly checking back—just real-time updates when something relevant comes up. By streamlining the listing and bidding process, we aim to make the disposal of affordable homes faster and more efficient, offering a smoother, more responsive alternative for developers.

2moGreat to see a proactive approach to finding suitable Registered Providers to purchase s106 Affordable Housing, but we should be asking how has it come to this. In my 35+ years in Affordable Housing there has never been the need for such a service. We have also seen other Networks being set up to offer a similar shop window and matching service, so there clearly is a big problem here. In my view, too much emphasis has been unfairly put on Registered Providers not have the capacity or resources to acquire such opportunities but in our experience there are numerous factors why some s106 opportunities aren’t being sold. At Homes106 we provide a tailored specialist service to ensure that our clients Affordable opportunities are not just fit for purpose but will be attractive to the RP market when sold. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any Affordable Opportunities that you would like some assistance with.
