Meet our Senior Procurement Specialist, Anna Cantu. In this role, she handles purchases and works closely with onboarding service providers who want to work with HomeSafe Alliance. Anna joined HomeSafe in June 2023 because she wanted to be part of a program that will make a difference and streamline the military moving process for people who give their all to protect our freedom. Before HomeSafe, Anna worked 15 years in government services for our majority joint-venture partner, KBR. Outside of work, Anna’s passions include spending time with family outdoors and crafting. “I strive to deliver high-quality work and make sure my team can trust that the work will be done,” Cantu said. “I love initiating new ideas because it’s important to find new solutions to solve any problems we may face.” #HomeSafe #HomeSafeAlliance #PCS #MilitaryMoves #GHC #MeetTheTeam

🔍 Balancing the GHC: Intent vs. Reality 🔍 The Global Household Goods Contract (GHC) was designed to streamline military relocations, aiming to enhance service quality and accountability. HomeSafe Alliance, led by KBR and supported by Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP), epitomizes this vision by integrating advanced technology and comprehensive services. However, some industry insiders express concerns about regulatory capture and unintended consolidation. They argue that instead of fostering competition, the GHC might inadvertently consolidate the market, potentially disadvantaging smaller movers. Understanding both perspectives is crucial for navigating these changes and ensuring that the intended benefits of the GHC are fully realized. #MilitaryMovers #PolicyImpact #StrategicInvestments #MadisonDearbornPartners #KBR #SIRVA #HomeSafeAlliance

Defence Australia says it has set a new benchmark, topping $5 billion worth of contracts with First Nations businesses under the Indigenous Procurement Policy, equal to about half of the overall $10 billion Commonwealth spend to date under the policy. In a statement on Wednesday, the department — marking Indigenous Business Month in October under the theme of “Making our Mark” — said that it exceeded targets assigned by the National Indigenous Australians Agency. Defence Indigenous Champion and Deputy Secretary Security and Estate Celia Perkins said defence had helped to close the gap by partnering with First Nations businesses. “By purchasing from First Nations businesses, Defence has been supporting efforts to build a self-sustaining First Nations business sector, where First Nation Australians are able to drive their own economic futures.” #manufacturing #australianmanufacturing #defence #defenceindustry

Drivers took to the streets in Washington, D.C., as part of the Walkboards to Washington coalition to raise awareness about the erosion of our military families' entitlements to professional relocations and the costs tied to PPM reimbursement. Our independent cost analysis reveals that the payments to members, if aligned with current regulations, won’t be sufficient to hire reputable movers. This forces many military families to shop around for cheaper rates, ultimately making them vulnerable to exploitation. What is the purpose of the GHC contract? It was supposed to enhance quality, increase capacity, and ensure more funding reaches those on the ground. Instead, it has driven thousands of dedicated independent contractors out of the military moving sector, reduced capacity, and reverted compensation to 1990 levels while lowering standards and privatizing the military moving industry. This isn’t just about not wanting to work with Tier One or KBR; it’s about being unable to do so. With the ambiguity surrounding SCA guidelines and the statements from both USTC and HNS, independent contractors are being pushed out of providing professional services to our military. This seems to be USTC's agenda, with the brave men and women in our armed forces paying the price. It’s only logical to pause the GHC rollout until SCA compliance issues are resolved so that necessary capacity levels can be met. I argue that this initiative isn’t focused on delivering quality service; instead, it appears designed to enrich both foreign and domestic investors while sacrificing the benefits of military families.

The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) is intensifying its stance against port automation as contract negotiations with the UNITED STATES MARITIME ALLIANCE LIMITED (USMX) approach a critical juncture. With only 80 days remaining on the current contract, the ILA has halted talks, citing concerns that Maersk’s APM Terminals’ auto gate system infringes on their jurisdiction. The union argues that the system, which allows truck processing without ILA labor, and the increasing presence of IT personnel in marine terminals threaten their job security and operational control. Historical negotiations between the ILA and USMX have usually been resolved without strikes, but the current tensions and firm union stance raise uncertainty about a possible disruption.
