I wonder why Jasmeet Singh has stopped criticizing Loblaws for high grocery prices? I would almost have believed he had a hidden agenda for singling them out. As well as blaming retailers--what about manufacturers--we all get coupons for $1.00 or more on certain products--to bolster product loyalty--and more and more people are using them. But when is the last time you saw a coupon for a staple for a low income family: eg. Kraft or Black Diamond cheese slices (not the Gourmet ones), Wonder Bread, Campbell's Tomato Soup, Kraft Dinner etc.? Why do you think Jasmeet singled out Loblaws and not other chains and not manufacturers?

It's amazing to ponder the logistics of a sandwich. Individually, we haul frozen bread, fresh lettuce, deli meats or plant based alternatives, and cheeses. First as raw materials. Then as finished goods branded for consumers to distribution centers, restaurants, and stores. All Star makes customers happy, just like a well made sandwich! I invest in people and grow their food and restaurant brands. CEO + Founder | Investor + Managing Principal | Board Chair + Board Director
Sauce obsessed? I love the idea of restaurant chains manufacturing and bottling sauce. Why this is a genius move: 1. LOYAL FANS ARE BANK! Anyone committed as deeply to chicky nuggies (or strips) must have a stance on their favorite brand AND favorite sauce. This one is high on our list (just ask our kids.) And... the brand enjoys the benefits of additional sales to fans at retail. 2. EYEBALLS ON BRAND. Yes, refrigerated sauces are genius, and not just because they create another purchase incident for customers. More importantly, they occupy loyal customer's coveted refrigerator space at eye level, every day... driving top-of-mind awareness and frequency of visits. 3. QUALITY CONTROL. Manufacturing sauces and seasonings will accomplish a number of things for any growing restaurant brand: quality control, reduced costs, labor efficiencies, bolt-on retail sales, etc. This is true in the back of the house (where it lives in 2 Gal jugs) AND in bottles forward-facing to consumers. Genius! If you are interested in learning more, we provide consulting and coaching services around: 💡 reviewing operations and sales to determine opportunities for manufacture 💡 sourcing and reviewing potential manufacturing partners 💡 site visits and audits for manufacturing sites 💡 system-wide testing and validation, customer feedback Food for thought. #cpg #restaurantindustry #franchising #restuarants #restaurantmanagement #productdevelopment

A year has passed since I closed the chapter with Sjaak's Organic Chocolates. I don't often open up about my personal life, but losing a job unexpectedly is not something you can easily share. The process of grieving that chapter took some time. Over the past year, I’ve applied to hundreds of graphic design positions, facing rejections and being ghosted more times than I can count. The tough job market can be incredibly discouraging, making me question my abilities as a designer. I even applied for a couple of barista jobs (no luck there either). Amidst the countless job applications and rejections, I've been nurturing my little coffee business. For years, I've had this deep desire to do something with coffee, but I hesitated, thinking my dream of owning a coffee shop was silly and I should just work as a "designer" with all the years I've gained. I am immensely grateful for my family and friends, who have been my pillars of support, constantly encouraging me to pursue this dream. Their unwavering belief in me has been the fuel I needed to keep going. Reflecting on this past year, I realize how much I've grown. I've learned resilience, patience, and the importance of believing in myself, even when the odds seem stacked against me. Each rejection taught me something new, making me a better designer and a more determined entrepreneur. I want to take a moment to appreciate the journey itself. Every setback was a setup for a comeback. These experiences have shaped me into someone stronger and more passionate about my dreams. To anyone facing similar struggles, remember that you are not alone. It's okay to feel discouraged, but never let it dim your light. Keep pushing forward, because your dreams are worth it. As for my little coffee business, it's growing day by day. I recently reached a significant milestone doing a *soft pop-up* and getting a Square reader (LOL), and I couldn't be more excited for what's to come. The dream that once seemed silly is now my reality, and I'm thrilled to see where this path will lead. Here's to chasing dreams, embracing the journey, and believing in ourselves. The road might be tough, but the destination is worth every step. This is just the beginning of it all. #smallbuisness #sandiego
Recently, we did our first *soft* mini popup with crafted cold brews and drinks! 🌟 The ube cream top cold brew was a crowd favorite! 💜✨ That week, I prepped batches of concentrated cold brews, perfect for the summer! 🌞 Midweek, my sister and I stocked up on inventory at Costco and made homemade strawberry jam. 🛒🍓 Big thanks to my family for their help and to my friends for always supporting me! I couldn’t have done it without you all! #CoffeePopup #ColdBrew #ubecream #SummerDrinks #HandcraftedCoffee #CoffeeLovers #strawberrymatcha #matcha #dayinmylife #DIML #SupportSmallBusiness #CoffeeExperience #homebarista #vlog

Today is National Beverage Day! There are many intricacies about taxing beverages that depend on the state. Did you know? Pennsylvania taxes hot coffee at vending machines and a variety of brick-and-mortar stores, but bottled and flavored cold coffee is exempt at those locations. #NationalBeverageDay #Coffee #SalesTaxNerd

Frozen pizzas have lately moved off grocery store shelves at a solid clip. Shoppers spent $7.4 billion on frozen pizza alone during the year that ended in July — up just under 1% year over year and more than on frozen breakfast foods, snacks or baked goods — according to data collected by Circana and published by 210 Analytics. Frozen pizza commanded $549 million in sales during July, up just under 1% from the previous year, and the number of units sold grew by nearly 2%, the data shows. Consumer interest in frozen pizza was up in July even as sales of other types of frozen meals, including entrees and breakfast items, lost ground in sales. #frozenfoods #groceryindustry #retail Jim Messer Circana 210 Analytics, LLC Sam Silverstein michael karavetsos https://lnkd.in/eRwwcNbG
