HOPE Horizon Europe project’s Post

On 16th September, Benjamin Percival from The Manchester Metropolitan University attended the first Joint ECR and PhD Conference for the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The purpose of this event is to create networking opportunities within the Faculty and give a chance for people to share their research. In this context, Benjamin had the opportunity to show some preliminary results of WP4 and in particular the assessment of HOPE technologies on #LocalAirQuality at European airports.

On September 3rd, the HOPE Horizon Europe project consortium met in Brussels in the offices of EUROCONTROL. The M18 Review Meeting was participated by Delft University of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology, Bauhaus Luftfahrt, Ergon Research, Hit09 Srl and The Manchester Metropolitan University, plus Hugues FELIX from CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency and Fabrice Giuliani from Combustion Bay One e.U. as reviewers. The work has also benefited from the valuable contributions of Abhishek Sahai (RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment), Laurent TABERNIER (EUROCONTROL), Askin T. Isikveren (Safran), Nicholas Treleaven (Safran),  Daniel Reckzeh (Airbus), and Daan van Dijk (Rotterdam The Hague Airport) and Marco Groot (KLM Royal Dutch Airlines). HOPE will be present next week at The International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) 2024 congress in Florence with three papers! The third contribution will present findings of WP2, in particular the #CFD-based scouting for the design of a #multifuel kerosene/hydrogen atmospheric burner. This work is authored by Lorenzo Palanti, Lorenzo Mazzei, Cosimo Bianchini, Sarah Link, Kaushal Dave, Francesca De Domenico and Arvind Gangoli Rao from Ergon Research and Delft University of Technology. HOPE will be present next week at The International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) 2024 congress in Florence with three papers! The second contribution will present other findings of WP1, in particular the design #optimization of a boundary layer ingestion (BLI) propulsor for a multi-fuel #hydrogen aircraft. This work is authored by Andrea Battiston, Andrea Magrini, Rita Ponza, Ernesto Benini, Barlas Türkyılmaz, Arne Seitz and Alexander Heidebrecht from Hit09 Srl, Università degli Studi di Padova, Bauhaus Luftfahrt and Delft University of Technology.
