When you absolutely, have to increase sales, open more opportunities, negotiate deals with profit, I can help, contact me. Psychology in Selling. Keynote Speaker. Executive Coach. Sales Trainer.
Guess what I spotted at Dunedin airport? The Black Jersey What does this Jersey mean? It depends who you ask I imagine To teams that play the All Blacks they probably know that they’re going to be in for a battle To NZ rugby players it’s what most aspire to become, to put that black jersey on or perhaps to create a legacy or to honour that legacy of all the greats that played before them and leave it in a better place once they have moved on. The one thing that everyone can learn from is the standards that the All Blacks set is a continual drive for excellence and that winning is everything. In an age where participation is rewarded without the pressure to get a result, have we become to soft and accepting of “ AVERAGE or PARTICIPATION MEDALS?” You either create a focus on winning or a focus on participation. Which one do you prefer? Is the focus on winning to outdated? Be great to get your comments. Do you agree? #sales #salestraining #salestrainer

Yesterday I travelled to Wembley with my son to watch my beloved team Bolton Wanderers lose in the League 1 Playoff Finals. I say lose but in fact we didn’t even show up. Surely they must have wanted it and done all the prep and I know they can play brilliant football as I’ve seen it at times throughout the season. So how come on this day when it really mattered, with so much at stake did they fail. They are professionals and this is their game so how could it go so miraculously wrong. Was it nerves and the occasion? Could they sense the pressure and the tension from the crowd? Did they actually want it enough? Where was the sense of team? What did the manager, their leader, say to them at half time? I had hoped that we would come out looking a much better side after a team talk but we didn’t. Should he have made earlier changes when they just didn’t settle into a rhythm before there was no time to make a comeback? I am sure many will be analysing, and questioning and working out what happened and I guess now that’s all we can do. Accept the defeat, learn the lessons and make the difference next season. At work, my team and I are focussed on being accountable, being consistent, sweating the small stuff, and when things go wrong, learning from failure. Oh and most importantly, working together as a team! Hopefully next season Bolton will learn the lessons; focus on the team, be consistent week in week out, stop dropping those easy points and secure automatic promotion so we are not left with one game and so much riding on it. Please 🙏 My nerves can’t take it ☺️

This Sunday I'm speaking at RacquetX on "The Death of Individual Sport"... Which is a HOT topic...especially in racquet sports. Some Facts: 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬: • Median salary for NFL players is ~$860k. • Median salary for NBA players is ~$4.6M. • Median salary for EPL players is ~ €3,106,000. 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬: • Only 22% of boxers make over $10k. • Median salary for Top 550 WTA tennis players is ~$75k. • Median salary for Top 1000 ATP tennis players is ~$22k. These discrepancies (𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰) are in the process of being solved through unique "team/league models". ──── Look forward to meeting many of you at RacquetX! It's going to be a great event with all the top brands, investors, and companies from racquet sports 🎾🏓 Here's the agenda for the event: https://lnkd.in/e-ASvjxK

I help challenger brands in sport with marketing strategy to position and differentiate themselves, and resonate with their audience.
I'm going to guess that not too many of you were watching the final stages last night of the Valspar Championship on the PGA Tour? This is Peter Malnati, who won the tournament, celebrating with one of his young sons. This was just Malnati's second win in 259 PGA Tour events (the first was in 2015 - golf is hard). He is the archetypal journeyman pro, and this win clearly meant a lot to him and his family. It secures his playing status for the next couple of years and gets him into all the big events, along with $1.5 million. Properly life-changing stuff. It got me thinking a bit about storytelling in sport, and what we look for as fans. There seems to be an assumption among the people who run sport that everyone only wants to see the biggest names (or the biggest teams) slugging it out among themselves, repeatedly. It's the mindset that leads to things like LIV Golf and European Super League ideas. Of course there's a place for that. We all want to see the best players doing their thing and competing against each other regularly. But you can have too much of a good thing, and I think there's still plenty of space in sport for these stories of redemption, comebacks, against-the-odds victories, life-changing moments. These stories create genuine emotion and engagement with the audience, even if the protagonist is someone 95% of people watching have never previously heard of. After all, if sport is meant to be entertainment, how many Hollywood storylines read "World-famous, dominant player or team that was expected to win, wins"?
