It has only been a few years since Juneteenth officially became a United States National Holiday, so some companies may still be deciding how they can best integrate and celebrate this national holiday throughout their companies. Here are some ideas to help get you started: 1. Volunteer as a company at a local event 2. Sponsor a Juneteenth event in your community 3. Expand your company's DEI efforts 4. In its 2022 Final Report, the NYC Racial Justice Commission recognized that true racial justice would require meaningful consideration of both a racial reconciliation process and reparations to compensate those who have suffered historical race-based injustices. It is gratifying to see that NYS has taken up the challenge of properly considering those healing processes as a way forward towards true racial justice. And among those who have been tapped to lead that work as part of New York State's Commission to Study Reparations and Racial Justice are former RJC Commissioners Jennifer Jones Austin, Darrick Hamilton and Lurie Daniel Favors. DEI is “Racial Profiteering.” “There are people who are profiting from the grievance of our society, and we must challenge these racial profiteers,” says Woodson, an author and founder of the Washington-based Woodson Center. Their are also better ways to help the people that need help. ALL the people that need help, without extorting people through guilt. Extortion: - the obtaining of property (anything of value) induced by the wrongful use of force, actual or threatened, by violence, fear or under the color of office or law. Grifting: - to obtain money or property illicitly as in a confidence game. Confidence Game: “Con” Game: - a swindle involving money or goods in which the victims trust is won by the swindler. Racial Profeiteering IS racism - in its purest form. Irregardless of the skin color of the swindler.

In 2022, a Black child in New York City was 7x more likely than a White child to be in a child protective investigation, and 1 out of every 2 Black children in New York City has been the subject of an investigation by the time they reach the age of 18. My #humanrights research created equity and fairness for NYC families with children who are disproportionately Black and poor, and it was recently featured in The New York Times . The National Innovation Service's #safetyandthriving framework recognized the urgency to address systemic and ongoing racial inequalities in our society. This framework can inspire continued racial equity public policy, case law, and collective action towards achieving justice and equity. Let's transform public systems into equitable institutions where every family, regardless of their race or economic status, can #thrive. "A crucial bill has been introduced to address a long-standing issue faced by disabled individuals in the United States concerning marriage equality. Contrary to common belief, marriage equality is not a reality for disabled people in the U.S. due to an existing penalty associated with getting married. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Program was designed to assist individuals with disabilities by helping to meet basic living needs such as food, clothing, and shelter. However, the program penalizes individuals with disabilities enrolled in the program if they exceed having just $2,000 in a bank account. That is the maximum amount a person can have in the bank before the federal government rules that they are no longer eligible for SSI. Referred to as the "marriage penalty," this system adversely affects disabled individuals, as their asset limit only increases from $2,000 as an individual to $3,000 as a couple, whether the person they marry is disabled or not. As a result, disabled people find themselves unable to save for their future, emergencies, or have any additional spending money beyond covering basic fundamental needs." https://lnkd.in/ec9q2552 https://lnkd.in/ec9q2552
