Workshop on land assembly? Sounds great! Land isn't necessarily an issue. However, land that is developable (or can be made economically viable to develop) is often raised as a huge challenge in rural areas. Rather than focus on challenges as a negative, though, it'll be really interesting to discuss the opportunities of land assembly in supporting rural housing delivery.
Join an inspiring workshop on "Land for Rural Housing" by the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE)! 🏡 📅 When: Thursday, Feb 22, 2024 🕛 Time: 12:00 - 15:00 📍 Where: MacDonald Aviemore Resort Get ready for an engaging discussion on land assembly and its role in increasing the supply of affordable rural housing. Lunch will be provided upon arrival. Places are limited! Contact Dr. Gareth D. James at gareth.james@glasgow.ac.uk to secure your spot. Check out what CaCHE do via https://lnkd.in/equbpJDR. Thursday is shaping up to be an inspiring introduction to our main conference. Don't miss this valuable opportunity to shape the future of rural housing! #RHSConference2024 #LandForRuralHousing #CaCHE

⭐️𝙒𝙀𝙀𝙆𝙀𝙉𝘿 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙄𝙉𝙂⭐️ 🗞️ In this recently published paper, Camila Cociña and Alexandre Apsan Frediani of the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), discuss how adopting a 'housing justice' lens can open up new possibilities for policy and practice to create fairer housing systems. Their 'justice lens' proposes: • Anti-discriminatory housing policy and practice • Radically democratic forms of housing production • Housing as an infrastructure for better cities, and • Expanded visions for housing futures Read the paper to learn how we can transform unfair and unsustainable housing systems that are failing the majority of the world's population and fuelling the current global housing crisis. 👉 https://bit.ly/4bnoj2S

A great document by PolicyLink “In this inaugural publication, we highlight the critical need for a reparative spatial justice framework in land and housing policy. The paper uplifts key concepts, research findings, and perspectives from the field shedding light on the multifaceted nature of reparative spatial justice. Drawing from a comprehensive literature review compiled by the PolicyLink housing team and the empirical insights of qualitative research conducted by Social Insights, this paper also synthesizes conversations with advocates, frontline workers, and thought leaders in the fields of spatial justice, reparations, housing justice, and land justice. The fusion of these insights frames a set of evidence-based recommendations, charting a course for practitioners, researchers, policymakers, organizers, and advocates dedicated to this transformative work.”
