Today is Black Leaders Awareness Day!! ✊🏽 Did you know this day existed? It was founded in the UK a few years ago. The goal of the day was honoring and promoting black leaders from the past and present, while providing inspiration for those who might become black leaders in the future. The founders of the day believe that an Awareness Day for black leaders and those who support diverse leadership serves the purpose of ensuring that the history of black leaders, remains at the forefront of society so that we understand and acknowledge the impact these leaders had throughout history, right through to the present day and beyond. Here are a few quotes from some powerful black leaders! 🙆🏽♀️ "When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, than it becomes less and less important if I am afraid!"- Audre Lorde "There is no such thing as failure. Failure is just life trying to move us in another direction." - Oprah Winfrey "Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." - Maya Angelou Meet in the chat with some of your favorite quotes from a black leader or acknowledge a Black leader in your network!! #blackleadersawarenessday #minoritymentalhealthawareness

Proud to share my latest Flexa blog post for Black Leaders Awareness Day today! In the last 4 years, we have definitely seen inconsistent levels of success in efforts to deliver a change to the experiences and representation of black people in leadership. In this Q&A, I look at different ways organisations can REALLY empower and support black leaders. From tackling unconscious bias and enhancing mentorship programs to ensuring black representation at all levels of management, this article covers practical strategies for fostering inclusive workplaces. And remember, it's not all about big displays on Social Media for Black History month... "Creating a more inclusive culture looks like actively celebrating the achievements and contributions of black leaders as much as you do for others." The link to the blog is in the comments below. #BlackLeadersAwarenessDay #DEI #Inclusion #Leadership #FlexaCareers

Make sure your black females have support. One of the things that I think really benefited me in getting into a leadership role was receiving great training. Great, great, great training that prepared me for the leadership position that I was walking into. On top of training, I was fortunate to receive great feedback. For example, a leader once recorded me giving a presentation. Why? So I could watch, learn, and see things that I was not aware of. We discussed my delivery, we practiced, and we changed my style significantly. All of these steps and all of this support gave me even more confidence to not only begin a new role, but to excel at it. We need to do better about making sure all black females have this level of support.

Why is leadership important for African American culture Black leadership is important for African American culture because Black leaders have a history of challenging the status quo and inspiring others to do the same. Black leaders have shown resilience, courage, and faith in the face of adversity, and their stories can serve as a guiding light for future generations. Black leaders can also bring a diverse perspective to organizations, address issues that others may not understand, and encourage change.
