Data Center Decommissioning with sledgehammers! Ok, that might be a little extreme. But we hear horror stories all the time about subcontractors showing up without proper certifications or tools. If you have an upcoming data center exit or relocation, here are some things you may want to look for when choosing a company to assist you: - Will they perform the work themselves, or will they subcontract all or some of the work? - If they subcontract, will someone from the company be onsite overseeing the project to ensure data is destroyed properly and all government regulations are strictly followed for disposal and recycling? - What certifications do they have? - Do they perform data destruction onsite, or offsite? - Will they perform an onsite audit and provide a serialized report and reconciliation before any hardware leaves the site? - Are daily status and photo reports provided during the project? - Do they provide a comprehensive project summary and serialized certificate of destruction when the project is completed? Which includes one time cost and recurring costs.  One-time cost:- Real estate costs. Local tax incentives Environmental assessment consulting costs. Cost to bring adequate utilities infrastructure to site. Cost to provide redundant utilities Demolition cost for any existing structures Recurring costs that will have long-term effects Usage cost of utility services Cost of telecommunication services Prevailing wage of skilled labor Lease cost and Taxes Proper planning, analysis and studies must be performed to avoid impact after the data center construction on Reliability, Availability, Manageability, Scalability, Cost of operations, Compliance to standards. #dcdc #cdcp #norden
