The landscape for female founders is shifting, but there's a powerful force on the rise: female investors. In 2023, only 13.2% of newly incorporated startup founders were women—a significant decline. But in the FemTech sector, which focuses on women’s health, there's a different story unfolding. This niche market is booming, despite facing underfunding and societal taboos. One of the key drivers of change? The growing number of female investors who are increasingly influencing funding decisions. Research shows that venture capital funds with at least one female partner are several times more likely to invest in female-led startups. As more women step into the investor role, they’re not only closing the gender gap but also reshaping the landscape to better support female founders and issues that uniquely affect women. The gaps in funding for female founders are widely known. Indeed, in 2020, women received only 2% of VC funding globally – a number that has not changed much in 10 years. A systemic change is needed, but the gaps are vast and to drive that change, the key levers must be well understood with solutions developed across the investment ecosystem. Join Issy Gordon, Hambro Perks, Helen M., Opply, Nina Mohanty, Bloom Money, Triin Linamagi, Sie Ventures, and Hephzi Pemberton, Honordex, as they discuss the ecosystem actions that should be prioritized to get more venture capital to female founders. They’ll focus on two dimensions: - Getting more women investors into VC/PE decision making roles - Increasing the number of women-led fast-growing businesses and supporting their funding journey. Happy International Women’s Day! Who was asked to speak for free today or had a workplace that put on some cupcakes (pink ofc) to celebrate? I’m hoping that these things lessen as the years go by. But do you know what hasn’t lessened? The gaping divide in VC investment between companies led by women and those led by men. Despite outperforming their male-led counterparts, women-founded firms are stuck with less than 2% of all VC funding, a figure that has barely changed over the last three decades. Some of the stats I talk about in my latest Stuff column are even more depressing (enraging?), but most importantly it does break down what we can all do about it. So, happy International Women’s Day. Let’s celebrate female founders and talk about their financial success, so that we change the narrative that women aren’t good business leaders, or aren’t ’good with money’. Because when we invest in women, we all benefit. https://lnkd.in/gdhrW_fN #iwd #internationalwomensday #investinwomen #womeninbusiness

We're celebrating the incredible impact of female founders and investors! According to research, here are some eye-opening stats: Female founders have created 10x more unicorns than just 5 years ago, and female-led companies are 20% more likely to disrupt their industries. And yet, only 2% of venture capital goes to female founders... there's still so much work to be done! Let's keep shining a light on these trailblazing women and working together to create a more equitable ecosystem. 🚀 #AngelsDen #WomenAngels #FemaleFounders #DiversityInTech #InvestInWomen #FemaleInvestors

How do we close the gender gap in venture capital? The numbers are stark: Only 11% of VC investing partners are women, and 13% of funding goes to startups with female founders. However, WAPPP | World Association of PPP Units & Professionals study shows that diversity drives returns—firms with 10% more female partners see 1.5% higher fund returns and 9.7% more profitable exits. So, what's holding us back? Homogeneous demographics, limited hiring opportunities and unconscious bias are just a few barriers. But by prioritizing diversity, implementing structured talent management and promoting inclusive cultures, we can empower women in VC.
