This strategic move from The Collective Association marks a turning point in the national conversation and legislation around NIL collectives. For companies seeking fundraising dollars, clear and consistent communication is crucial. Collectives are no different, and TCA clearly understands that. Governor Ron DeSantis has vetoed all Arts and Culture grants in Florida so let's look at the numbers... Per a study by Americans for the Arts, Florida's Arts and Culture industry generated $5.8 billion of economic activity, including $2.9 billion by nonprofit Arts and Culture organizations. This economic activity supports 91,720 full-time jobs and generates $3.8 billion in resident household income in Florida alone. Florida's Arts and Culture industry delivered $694.7 million in local, state, and federal government revenue. And in Sarasota, FL alone, my former home, the arts and culture industry generated $342,685,487 of economic activity into the community. Beyond attending performances, the average ticket buyer spends an additional $46.21 per person in event related expenditures (lodging, restaurants, shopping, etc... It's a ripple effect folks!) But, per the Governor's logic, an investment of $32 MILLION to generate a return of over almost $700M in government revenue was not in the best interest of the state of Florida?!?! BRAVO to advocates like Richard Russell, Brian Hersh, and all my other colleagues and friends in Sarasota who continue to demonstrate how a healthy arts and culture industry drives a healthy economy. https://lnkd.in/gZ98X4j7?

Are you a CALIFORNIA VOTER? Governor Newsom has proposed a 58% cut to arts program funding in the 24-25 May revise of California budget. While Newsom shared that “core services are protected,” his proposal includes decimating 100% of the funding for implementing SB 1116, the Performing Arts Equitable Payroll Fund ($12.5 million) and 38% ($10 million) of the state arts agency or California Arts Council’s $26 million in grants to arts nonprofits. California’s artists, tradition bearers, cultural organizations and creative businesses have long carried the weight of the state’s preeminence as a cultural producer and creative economy on their shoulders alone, without adequate sustained public investment. Access to arts, culture and creative expression is a core service that delivers a multitude of public impacts. These opportunities weave the social fabric of our communities, empower individuals, engage youth, vivify places, bond groups, bridge differences and transform lives, building community health while driving over 8% of the state’s economy, supporting 847,688 jobs and generating 7.3% of state tax revenue. @CAArtsAdvocates with coalition partners @ActorsEquity and @TheatreproducersofSoCal will work alongside creative industry leaders and statewide advocates to urge the Governor and Legislature to recognize the drastic nature of these cuts and the destabilizing threats they pose to the livelihoods of the creative workforce and to the promise of core California values. TAKE ACTION TODAY! 📣 Advocacy Alert: Protect Federal Funding for Arts and Culture 📣 ❗ What is happening: On October 1, U.S. Congress will decide on the federal budget. This budget shapes how much money is available for arts and culture through the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as how much is available for arts education. Currently, Congress is deliberating between two versions of the budget: one that cuts the NEA budget by 1.5%, and one that increases it by $2 million. ❓ Why this is important: Increasing NEA funding is vital to ensure the vitality of the dance and larger arts and culture sector—not just in New York, but across the country. Congress also has an opportunity to increase funding for arts education, ensuring that students have equitable access to a quality, life-enriching learning. We are advocating for a $2 million increase to NEA funding and increases to budget items that impact arts education. ➡️ Will you join Dance/NYC in advocating for federal funding for arts & culture? Use bit.ly/DNYCAA09_20 to tell your Congressional Reps to support the NEA 🗣️ ✍🏻 Image: White background with a red megaphone icon and red text. Text reads: ‘Advocacy Alert: Protect Federal Funding for Arts and Culture. Urge your Congressional Reps to support the NEA’. The Dance/NYC logo and #ArtistsAreNecessaryWorkers rest in the bottom right corner.

Thoughtful op-ed by Jennifer C. about public sector funding for arts and culture: "....to build public buy-in around a sound, long-term public arts funding strategy, we need to answer some critical questions: -- What is a reasonable amount of public arts funding for Cuyahoga County? ... -- What are national best practices on both public arts funding mechanisms and funding formulas?"
