Why does organizational culture matter? Do we really need to care about it? ⬇ Yes! ☝ ✅ ⬇ Research shows that strong company culture not only attracts talents, but also increases productivity. It defines how employees communicate and collaborate with each other, so has a direct impact on their performance. The foundation of a strong culture is the company’s mission, vision and values. Clearly defined short- and long-term goals also help employees stay focused and motivated. What about communication? It’s crucial to make sure that employees: ➡ Are allowed to share their ideas and concerns freely ➡ Can ask for and receive sufficient feedback about their work ➡ Feel that their time is not wasted, i.e. by creating action plan with specific tasks and deadlines as a result of each meeting ➡ Are treated with respect “I think creating a safe culture where the door is always open and employees feel comfortable discussing challenges is important.” – says Jesper Diget, Group Chief People Officer at emagine in an interview for HRHQ. A busy few days on the HR front; many different businesses, sectors and leaders (and even locations - Paddington and I are close friends these days) but some things don’t change. All of the work and conversations this week have been with leaders who needed that trusted partner to share their people challenges and opportunities, who wanted to talk through their visions and ambitions and invite my thoughts into their plans. It’s an honour to work alongside these leaders who invite challenge, debate and perspective into their thought process. HR consultancy is never boring that’s for sure! Whatever your people challenge, a conversation to unlock it might be just what you need. Got a people challenge? Let’s find some solutions. #loveyourjob #Hrdoesntneedtobehard

Unpopular opinion: people have strong feelings and opinions about HR. Some people really hate HR. Some people really love HR. Some people are indifferent to HR. It can be a mixed ‘bag’ (pun intended!). There is really no other corporate function like HR that people will have such strong opinions about. The reason for this is simple. It’s because what HR does really matters. The work that HR does directly impacts every aspect of the way a person experiences a workplace. For this reason, working in HR is a privilege. There is no other job that you can do that has such a profound impact on the working lives of people. It can be useful if you work in HR to remind yourself of this. Particularly on those days when you might be responding to a HR hater or indifferent! 😉 ***** Hi 👋 I’m Sarah, Founder and Managing Director of HR Consulting firm Humanify HR Consulting. We work with some great Australian leaders and organisations to help them excel in HR, leadership and workplace relations. #Leadership #FutureLeaders #HumanResources #HR

Unlike CEOs, supervisors, and managers, HR leaders need to work hard to prove themselves and to earn a seat at the table. I recently had a meaningful conversation over coffee with an HR Director who shared the challenges she had to face to correct the image of HR in their organization. At the onset of her HR career, she had to break the myth that HR only handled hiring and firing. Although it meant extra work for her, she made the effort to create and foster a positive workplace culture and initiate robust employee development programs in their company. She also had to break the myth that HR was solely there to enforce rules. Many employees looked at her as a disciplinarian rather than a supportive resource. She constantly showed that she is approachable, and that she is ready to listen and to provide support. She intensified advocating for employee well-being and mediating conflicts. Lastly, she had to prove the value of HR knowledge and efforts to the company's leadership. This was the most challenging part of her work because the management did not believe that HR can contribute to the company's strategic goals. Senior management often undervalued her insights, believing HR was not integral to business success. However, her initiatives in talent management and leadership development, as well as transparent communication across the company proved crucial during a company-wide restructuring. She carried her team's banner by showing the true scope of HR and by demonstrating HR's strategic value. Her dedication paid off, leading to a newfound respect for her role and a promotion to HR director. Now, the HR team has earned a seat at the table, and the higher ups consider them essential partners in the success of the business. #HumanResources #HRStories #HRAppreciation #ʙᴇɴᴇfitsguy ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ ▂ Come & get to know me: https://lnkd.in/d_vy6qq
