Happy Holi, Everyone! 🎉 As we're celebrating Holi, a fun festival where we throw colorful powders and water at each other. But Holi isn't just about playing with colors – it's also about coming together as a team and celebrating our differences. In our jobs, just like during Holi, we're all different colors that come together to make something beautiful. Each of us brings our own ideas and talents to the table, which helps our team do great things. Holi also teaches us about working together and having fun while doing it. Just like how we play together during the festival, we should also work together as a team to get our tasks done at work. But let's not forget the important stuff too. Last week I had the honour to catch up with Raja Ahmad Muzamir Shah, a dear ex-colleague of mine. At some point during our conversation, I had a random thought. If Muz and I were to be stuck at an airport for X amount of hours (God forbid 😨), would I feel: A) ugh, can’t believe I have to be with this person more than necessary! B) cool, let’s get to know each other better! Before I answer, let me enlighten you about this dear ex-colleague of mine. Muz has always prided himself on being the person that anyone can come to. Whether it be a: ✅ work related/professional matter ✅ if they want some personal advice ✅ a shoulder to lean/cry on He always ensured that his colleagues know that as a leader, he is: ✅ open ✅ friendly ✅ reliable ✅ always working to get to know them as best as he can on a personal level It’s nice to have people around you who are like Muz - easy to get on with. If you can surround yourself with people who are sincere, then that’s gold dust for a diverse and quality culture. Something I tell myself early on in my career. However, I also tell myself it is just as important - if not more - to have people around you who are willing to say difficult things on difficult days. People who are willing to professionally disagree and offer diverse solutions. Here’s the funny thing about “being easy to work with” - most people equate it with a chronic disease of “wanting to be liked”. I can see why. Because anyone can be “easy to work with” if it means just saying yes to whatever is asked of you. But I think it’s really about: ✅ being empathetic ✅ standing by promises ✅ honoring your commitments Thankfully, Muz is open, confident and puts a lot of effort into working with his team members. He never cared about all that triviality. I was lucky to be a member of his team. So for me, the answer would definitely be B) 😎 #easytoworkwith #underratedcareerskill

If this video seems fast my second day at Grace Hopper Celebration today went by even faster! 🎢 Kicked off the day with some seriously inspiring keynotes hosted by the one and only Jeanne Sparrow, and wow, Brenda Wilkerson, Tunde Oyeneyin, and Tiffany Yu - you all rocked the world! They made one thing crystal clear - leadership knows no bounds; it's in every color, form, and walk of life. I felt all range of emotions - from pure excitement to having an absolute blast, frustration, anger, sadness, to hopefulness and inspiration within 1.5 to 2 hrs followed by diving deep with workshops on 1. Design thinking to tackle real-world problems 2. honing innate Leadership skills. And to cap it off, nothing beats sharing newfound wisdom with my fantastic NetApp tribe over couple of 🍸. Shoutout to NetApp and the incredible WIT & DEIB community Tamsin Minton (she / her) , Mary Jean Schmitt Trent Peterson (he / him/ his) for making today possible. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! 🚀💃 Lessons of the day: 1. Do not confirm 2. A tree is a tree, not a forest 3. Be yourself, and your tribe will find you 4.
