We recently hosted our first International Education ‘Speed Dating’ Networking event – where colleagues from across the bank and their student-age children got to learn about the challenges and opportunities of studying abroad. Guests heard from Retail Banking CEO Taylan Turan and Global Head of International Propositions Katie Wilkins – who unpacked HSBC’s new Quality of Life research, exploring the motivations and challenges parents face when planning their child’s overseas education; and crucially, how HSBC has the tools to help. We were delighted to be joined by a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford and expert in adolescence well-being Wanying Zhou and HSBC UK Senior Education Consultant Annettee Whalley who delved into student psychology and shared tips for students and parents embarking on their international education journey. Attendees also had the opportunity to connect with HSBC’s international graduate network, including Umang Vashist, Jonathan Chang, Isabelle Brown, George Nying, Shilp Burman Roy, Mafalda Gaspar, who each shared their personal experiences from studying abroad. By sharing their experience, our recent graduates hope to support current and future international students to navigate studying overseas.
