#THAinsights- 2 Everyone understands the importance of training in hospitality. However, hotel often struggles to find time for it due to busy operations, or on low occupancy periods, team members are given their pending offs/leaves. This results in overworked staff even on less busy days and training is neglected. Suggestion : Implement 10 minute practical training sessions at least twice a week on the shop floor instead of waiting to organize one hour session in the training room. #Thehoteladviser #Hospitality #Training #Hoteloperations

You know those chats I have with hotel managers and owners? They're goldmines of knowledge! One technique that stands out big time in training frontline hotel staff is using staged scenarios based on real-life situations. Instead of just listening, staff actually dive into these scenarios where they have to deal with situations they might face on the job. And get this – the outcomes are real, just like in a real hotel. Imagine facing a scenario that feels totally real, with outcomes that could actually happen. It's like a light bulb moment. Our interactive microlearning pieces include these situations using branching scenarios. Staff handle everything from a grumpy guest at the front desk to a chef having a meltdown in the kitchen. And here's the kicker: They face the consequences without being spoon-fed what's right or wrong and without harming the hotel's reputation. - - I’m Laura, and I’m on a mission to help independent hotels maintain top-tier standards ♻️ Repost if you found this helpful 🗣️ Join the conversation in the comments 💬 DM me to find out how I can revolutionise frontline staff performance #hospitality #hoteltraining #microlearning

Tired of snooze-fest hotel training sessions? We've all been there. Sure, flashy emojis and colourful slides try to liven things up, but after an hour or more, they just put us to sleep. 😴 To keep busy adult hotel staff engaged, training needs to be quick, super-relevant, visual, and fun (doesn't mean cheese!) And it can't all be done in one sitting! Adults have high expectations for training. They don't do fluff and they can't remember a years supply of content in one go. Sorry. Most end up feeling insulted with long tedious sessions from experts in the field who try to cover as much as possible in an 8 hour session. Effective training needs to be concise, highly-relevant and delivered in a way that engages adults. It's high time hotel's start meeting adult staff where they are and ditch the long, boring lectures.

The Secret Training Sauce for Hotel Frontline Staff When it comes to training hotel staff, two huge chains - Hilton and InterContinental Hotels Group - have a secret sauce. The ingredient? Microlearning. 👩🍳 These hospitality giants skipped dry, lengthy training for bite-sized mobile lessons. Think 5-minute media-rich bursts focused on specific roles - perfect for busy hotel teams! The results speak for themselves. At Hilton, microlearning boosted engagement and retention through their HWU program. IHG's microlessons via IHG Mylearning increased knowledge and guest satisfaction. 📈 The beauty of microlearning is its versatility. Short, digestible pieces of learning on-the-go via mobile devices. And not only does do short bursts stick faster, it increases long term retention over time when spaced out. Clearly the hotel giants are onto something big. Smaller chains and independents can stir in this secret sauce too for training wins!
