Intersolar North America 🇺🇸 vs Intersolar Europe 🇪🇺 I attended Intersolar North America and Energy Storage North America last week, a name well-known in Europe as Intersolar is THE event to attend if you are in the solar/battery space. Several people asked me about the differences between the two shows. Here are the main distinctions I observed: 🔗 Different Supply Chains: While China dominates the Munich event with the largest booths, not many Chinese Tier 1 (PV modules, battery, and inverter) suppliers attended the American counterpart. Instead, Indian, Turkish, and Vietnamese players represented Asia. 📏 Event Size: Let's be honest: Intersolar US is much smaller than Europe's in terms of the number of booths and attendance. Still, as Sinovoltaics enters the US market, many insightful conversations took place. Also, since the event is in Downtown San Diego, it's much more convenient to meet people around the show. And better to have confidential business conversations. 🇺🇸 IRA (Inflation Reduction Act): The Inflation Reduction Act is everywhere. New American players are entering the industry, and international players are looking to establish local factories in Ohio, Texas, or North Carolina. Many consultants were there to support companies in getting the most out of this strategic legislation. 👷 Local Players: If you're accustomed to European EPCs, mounting structures, analytics software, and services, there's a good chance that you've never heard of most of the companies exhibiting in those fields at Intersolar North America. 🍺 🥨 Last but not least, free beers and pretzels were nowhere to be seen in the exhibition hall. That was a big shock for me. 😅 However, the Californian sunshine and palm trees make up for it. What do you think?

Last week I participated in one of the largest expos in the solar industry Intersolar in #SanDiego. Thanks to my classmate, a good friend and professional in the solar industry Vahe Hayrapetyan. Solar is not in my scope of interest but Vahe convinced me to go and he was right. About 15-20% of exhibitors brought EV charging solutions to the expo, even more, there were companies directly working in our industry which was impressive. I had 20+ meetings, in my industry ended in 3-4 serious connections that can bring some positive changes to my growing business. Some important points about this expo and just general expo participation: - If you're in solar you should definitely visit Intersolar (or the same kind of event), it's a place to learn, discuss and challenge yourself for growth. - You can always find more information on the internet but never know the tricks only available in human interactions and networking. - Small or big you should be prepared before any kind of event. Do your homework before you arrive at the venue. - All expenses will be recovered if you focus and make at least one important contact and learn about one major innovation. - and finally have fun, test everything you can, speak to anyone you can enjoy your time.
