Building Next Generation Data Center Facility in ASEAN Summary: The white paper co-authored by ASEAN Center for Energy and Huawei emphasizes the development of data centers that are reliable, simplified, sustainable, and smart. It calls for integrating efficient and energy-saving products and solutions in data center design, development, and operation & maintenance (O&M) to improve energy efficiency and sustainability. Key Points: Reliable: Modular Design: Ensures safety and reliability at all levels from components to systems. AI Preventive Maintenance: Enhances reliability by predicting and preventing failures. Advanced Batteries: Lithium-ion, especially lithium iron phosphate, are recommended for their long life and safety. Simplified: Minimalist Architecture: Simplifies systems through hardware convergence. Prefabricated and Modular Construction: Reduces delivery times and costs, exemplified by reducing the delivery period from 18–24 months to 9 months for a 1000-rack data center. Sustainable: Energy-Efficient Cooling: High-temperature chilled water fan wall solutions improve cooling efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Clean Energy Incentives: Governments are encouraged to offer tax breaks and discounted electricity rates for data centers using clean energy. Smart: Facility Automation: Utilizes digital and AI technologies for automation. 3D Visualization and Digital Dashboards: Provides intelligent management of data center facilities.
