While everybody is slowly returning from their summer breaks, we used the relative quiet time to look back a bit at the different projects we worked on. There were some big changes for us. First of all, we wrapped up our work for Geldvinder.nl, which we proudly built with APG Financial for the last few years, helping people become more financially fit. I was talking to some older family members today and they felt that they have nothing to do once their children have grown older (with their own kids) and don't find any more purpose in life. I felt that the only difference between them and people of my generation is that they are not working and so really feel aimless. My question is 'Is work/earning a salary our only aim in life?' AND 'Is retirement actually good?' NOTE: I see some companies like WisdomCircle are doing work in this area but not really sure how many are taking advantage of the same. Of course, movies like 'The intern' are inspiring where the company hires old people as interns. Any thoughts? #OldisGold #Theintern #Wisdomcircle #GrowOldGrowWise #LifeBeyondWork #Retirement #Isworklife?

Celebrating a Milestone: My Journey as a Financial Maestro🎉 Hey LinkedIn Fam! Today marks a special milestone in my journey – it's my work anniversary! 🥳✨ As I sit back and reflect on the incredible whirlwind of experiences, challenges, and victories that have shaped my path, I can't help but feel a rush of gratitude and excitement. From crunching numbers to steering the ship of financial stability, it's been one heck of a ride! Picture this: it feels like just yesterday when I first stepped into the bustling corridors of our organization, armed with my trusty calculator and a whole lot of ambition. Little did I know then, that I was about to embark on an adventure that would redefine my career and leave a lasting impact on the world of finance and administration. From leading the charge in response to external audits – cue the nerve-wracking moments and the sweet relief of no significant findings! – to championing the establishment of a staff development fund that's been a game-changer for professional growth, every twist and turn has been a lesson in resilience, innovation, and above all, teamwork. And let's not forget the infamous liquidation forms – a little touch of bureaucracy never hurt anybody, right? 😉 But hey, they've been instrumental in upholding our standards of accountability and transparency, and that's a win in my book! But perhaps one of the highlights of this journey has been introducing our very own professionally managed pension program. Because let's face it, who doesn't love a bit of financial security sprinkled with tax relief perks? It's all about setting sail towards a brighter, more secure future for our incredible team. So here's to celebrating the wins, embracing the challenges, and continuing to push the boundaries of what's possible in the world of finance and administration. To my amazing colleagues, mentors, and partners – thank you for being the wind beneath my wings and making every moment count. Here's to many more adventures, triumphs, and memorable milestones ahead! 🚀💼 #WorkAnniversary #CheersToTheJourney #Anniversary

3YearAnniversary 🚀 💘 While opinions may differ, but I don't believe that love is a three-year affair. ✍After three years, SAVY.lt and I are still going strong 😊 I must admit that starting to work in a Fintech company was quite a challenge for me. So, besides communication, I delved into processes and details, learned to assess customer risk, and not only did I enjoy it, but I also excelled, leading the private client risk assessment team in the last year, covering for my colleague on childcare leave. 👋 However, after 3 years, as I return to my communication roots, I'm thrilled to officially take on investor relations responsibilities. Over the years, I've found myself discussing investment matters not just at conferences, but also in very unexpected places, from the hair salon to coffee catch-ups with friends. I don't give advice, but I've learned to communicate complex financial concepts in a way that resonates with everyone because I know how challenging it is to start with no background. ⛰ The picture was taken on my first work anniversary and first workation in Poland, but it reminds me that every peak is reachable when you take that first step. I guess I'll never learn to film myself while snowboarding, but I can certainly speak about investing. See you in the mountains? 😉 #3YearAnniversary #MilestoneMoments #Investment #Communication #InvestorRelations #FinTech

Journey of a retirement intern. Month 1. A few weeks ago I finished work, handed in my laptop and swanned off into retirement. I’ve been asked quite a lot since then how does it feel after four decades at the workplace. So here’s how the first month went .. Walked dog 100 times. Dog enjoying my retirement. Became Treasurer of Residents Association overlooking income and expenditure. Once a banker … Went for trailwalk on a Monday morning. Felt like playing truant. Spent hours practising with table-tennis robot and developed killer topspin forehand. Played table-tennis with my mate. Mate destroys my forehand. Researching more advanced robots on Amazon. Middle of the second week had to think really hard which day it was. Realise I’m delving into LinkedIn more now than when I was working. Everyone’s so busy. Start looking at options for volunteering of some kind. Put everything on hold to look after sick wife, who went from bad to worse under my care and ended up in hospital for a week with pneumonia. Out now and on the mend. Made fresh soup for her return. Surprised myself it looked like the recipe and tasted like the ingredients. Bought electronic drum kit while wife was in hospital. Packaged it as a Valentine’s Day present from her to me. Promised I won't set it up until she’s well again. Read three books. Sci-fi novel, crime novel, and one about a Swedish monk. Read lots of articles on applying practical work experience to new ventures. Thinking I should write an article about practically applying 40 years of work experience to help others with 40 years of work experience ahead of them. Created spreadsheet to track quarterly income from long-term static investment portfolio. Checked static investment portfolio 5 times a day. Did a pile of ironing to 70s classic rock on Spotify. Embarrassingly cathartic. Achieved performance target of one item per track. Told by wife I’m a nicer person since ending work. Asked by someone I worked with last year about possibility of me doing some work for him. To be continued .. 🙄

Hello LinkedIn community, I trust this post finds you well. Today, I'd like to share a piece of my journey—a rollercoaster of experiences that shaped who I am. In the midst of the 2020 lockdown, fresh out of graduation, my family faced financial hardships that challenged my pursuit of further education. The responsibility of being the family's breadwinner fell on my shoulders, prompting tough decisions under immense pressure. A sales job became my lifeline, navigating us through a challenging chapter. Fast forward to a highlight—landing my dream role at Morningstar. Everything clicked, and life seemed perfectly aligned. However, the unexpected twist came last month when I found myself parting ways with my role. Meticulously crafted plans shattered, leaving a heartbreak in their wake. Life is inherently unpredictable, and setbacks can be formidable to navigate. Yet, the essence of our journey lies not in the challenges we face but in how we rise above them. From being the anchor for my family to securing my dream role, I've learned that setbacks are mere pauses on the road to success. Yes, leaving Morningstar stung, particularly when everything was flourishing. I genuinely miss the colleagues who became friends; their absence resonates. It's okay to acknowledge that sense of loss. The bonds formed and lessons learned during my time there are invaluable and forever etched in my heart. A gentle reminder for all of us: setbacks don't define our capabilities or worth. The skills and experiences gained during those Morningstar days are treasures that will undoubtedly shape my future successes. As I step into this new chapter, I'm reaching out to my professional network for support, exploring fresh opportunities, and maintaining resilience in the face of adversity. If anyone has walked a similar path or has wisdom to share, I'd love to connect and learn from your experiences. After all, we're collectively navigating this journey. #CareerJourney #Resilience #Adaptability #NewBeginnings #LinkedInCommunity #OpenToWork
