Geographic representation in clinical research is an area where study sponsors often struggle to achieve greater health equity. In our latest Conversations About Health Equity vignette, Angela R. & Devra T. Densmore speak with Brandi Underwood, a member of the facial pain and migraine communities, about the challenges people in rural communities face with their healthcare, including considering research as part of that care continuum.
As the Manager of Development, Research, and Advocacy for the Facial Pain Association (FPA), a member of the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy's Board of Directors, and volunteer for the Epilepsy Foundation, Brandi applies a health equity lens to her advocacy, education, and outreach by engaging members of rural communities to ensure their needs are being considered and addressed.
Stay tuned over the next several weeks, as Brandi helps us explore the unique considerations industry, advocacy groups, health care professionals, and government service providers should include in their health equity work to improve partnership and collaboration with rural community members.
