Understanding the Latest Court Ruling on Eviction Moratoriums Hey Utility Ranger Community, Here’s a simple breakdown of the recent court decision regarding eviction moratoriums that might impact you. What Happened? The U.S. Court of Appeals has revived a case where landlords are arguing that the CDC’s eviction moratorium (which stopped evictions during the pandemic) was an illegal action. This means that landlords may be able to get compensation for the rent they lost during the moratorium. Why is it Important? • Compensation Possibility: If the court rules in favor of the landlords, those who lost rent due to the moratorium might get compensated. • Legal Clarification: This decision might change how future government actions regarding evictions are handled. Next Steps? The case goes back to a lower court for more proceedings. We’ll keep you updated as things progress. Stay tuned for more updates, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions! https://lnkd.in/eFJzTGHK

“Rent control discourages investment in new housing, constraining supply which drives up overall housing costs. Voters should reject Proposition 33 on the Nov. 5 statewide ballot.” Vote No on CA Prop 33. This measure is up for the 3rd time and CA voters should reject it again. Please spread the word to protect your property rights. This measure effects private single family home owners as well as commercial. It does not increase funding for affordable housing. #VoteNoOn33 #NoOn33 #Prop13 #CAProp13

Don’t believe the BS propaganda on rent control. Do your own research, look at cities with rent control and tell me if housing is any more affordable. In fact, many developers refuse to build new units in these markets, exaggerating the problem. Its simple more supply = lower prices “Econ 101”. Rent control stifles community improvement and new supply raising prices for everyone else. Vote No on 33…keep LA, SF and Sacramento out of SD.

U.S. SUPREME COURT DECLINES TO HEAR LATEST CHALLENGE TO RENT CONTROL https://bit.ly/49PIk1h Multi-Housing News is reporting that the U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear the latest challenge to the contentious rent control issue. MHN says the court appeared to remain open to future consideration of the key issues raised in the case. According to the report, in 74 Pinehurst et al. v. State of New York (plaintiffs) had argued that New York City’s rent control regulation violated the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause, which prohibits takings of property without due process. The case is similar to one the court declined to hear last year.
