NEW Audit! The Boston Housing Authority (BHA) Did Not Always Comply with HUD’s Requirements for Its Housing Choice Voucher Program Units. Today, HUD OIG issued a report examining the Boston Housing Authority’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program to determine whether the physical conditions of the Authority’s HCV units complied with both HUD and the Authority’s requirements. HUD OIG found that BHA did not ensure its Housing Choice Voucher units met minimum housing quality standards, consistently take appropriate action following failed unit inspections, or comply with HUD’s monitoring and data collection requirements for children with elevated blood lead-levels. Because the BHA unit inspection process had weaknesses, 50 units of the 87 we reviewed had housing quality standard deficiencies resulting in families living in units that were not always decent, safe and sanitary. HUD and BHA lacked assurance that owners and the Authority appropriately addressed their responsibilities under the Lead-Safe Housing Rule in a timely manner for cases of children with Elevated Blood-lead Levels. 👉 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e_eRDh-8
