What is often unspoken about Memorial Day is its origins in the quest for civil rights and the search for peace. According to the Office of Veterans Affairs, it originated after a series of “Decoration Days” were organized by Black and White communities to honor fallen soldiers following the Civil War. One of the most significant of these events was held by a group of Black and White abolitionists in May 1865. In 1868, General John A. Logan, the head of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), a politically powerful organization of Union veterans, made it an official act, speaking of the practice of floral tributes and “Decoration Days” in the context of post-war Black civil rights. It was not until after WW1 that Memorial Day began to expand to honor the dead from all American wars. As we take time today to celebrate the lives of those fallen soldiers who have served this country, let us also remember that the origin of Memorial Day is rooted in the struggle to end slavery and the search for “permanent peace. As a former Army medic, reflecting on September 11, 2001, brings back vivid memories of how deeply it shaped not only the military but also the nation as a whole. The attacks marked a turning point, sparking the War on Terror, leading to deployments that forever altered the trajectory of so many lives—military personnel, first responders, and civilians alike. For medics, the aftermath saw a heightened emphasis on combat readiness and trauma care, as we found ourselves deploying to areas where our skills were critical in saving lives under fire. The immediate response to 9/11 was a surge of patriotism and a sense of duty. Many, including myself, were motivated by the need to serve and protect. The warzones we entered in Iraq and Afghanistan had a distinct intensity, with the constant need to provide medical care in challenging and dangerous environments. It also redefined the scope of care, blending battlefield medicine with innovations in trauma care that have since improved survival rates for soldiers and civilians alike. The impact of 9/11 endures, not just in military strategy or geopolitics, but in the personal stories of those who served. Removing the phrase "Duty, Honor, Country" from the West Point Mission Statement and this letter from the General Milley and the Chiefs of Staff fuels the continual distrust of the USA Military Flag Officers and SES Personnel. They wrote and signed a letter with no investigation. Prior to writing the letter, these Senior Personnel should have performed a very basic Article 32 Investigation. Their words are damning with limited facts and detailed analysis. The phrase 'Duty, Honor, Country" exemplifies a responsibility to 'The Government of the People, By the People, for the People.' Duty, Honor, Country as a component of the West Point Mission Statement and the Motto of West Point is the continual, engrained reminder of the Responsibility and Accountability of those in the Profession of Arms, as well as Responsibility and Accountability when our time in the Profession of Arms is done! These three words are ingrained in our soul, the soul of those selflessly serving the USA. These three words require us to act with due diligence, integrity, honor, selflessness, and a focus on the Nation and those unable to defend themselves. These Three Hallowed Words do not bend to the whims of politics or political parties, they are as rigid and steadfast as their Rockbound Highland Home. The Milley Joint Chiefs of Staff failed to comply with this phrase with the hastiness of their letter and the appearance of damning the 45th Commander in Chief. https://lnkd.in/ee7YM_uq

This ceremony is a testament to the values of honor, duty, and respect. It calls us to reflect on our own lives, asking whether we live each day with the same level of dedication and purpose. In one corner, we have... Conning Conundrum Syndrome (CCS)! - Symptoms: Unshakable loyalty, denial reflex, and the blame game shuffle. Victims insist they haven't been conned by Trump and Putin, despite overwhelming evidence that could make a blindfolded jury shout "Guilty!" And in the other corner, we have... Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS)! - Symptoms: Uncontrollable eye-rolling at the mention of Trump, spontaneous fits of fact-checking, and an intense urge to debunk every tweet. Accused sufferers vehemently oppose Trump, sometimes with a fervor that rivals a sports fan during the playoffs. CCS - "Conning Conundrum Syndrome" is like having a GPS that stubbornly refuses to recalibrate. You're headed for a cliff, but it keeps saying, "Turn right in 100 feet." You’re convinced the destination is glorious, but spoiler alert: it’s a steep drop into reality. TDS - "Trump Derangement Syndrome" is like having a highly sensitive radar that detects every single Trump-related blip, no matter how small. You’re hyper-aware of every move, comment, and typo, often resulting in high blood pressure and a sudden urge to tweet. Denial vs. Obsession - CCS: "No way, Trump’s perfect!" - TDS: "No way, Trump’s terrible!" Blame Game vs. Blame Flame - CCS: "What about those emails?" - TDS: "What about that tax return?" Loyalty vs. Paranoia - CCS: "Trump could do no wrong." - TDS: "Trump can do no right." The Hilarious Hypocrisy: - CCS sufferers are like fans at a magic show, utterly convinced that the magician’s tricks are real, while TDS sufferers are the skeptics yelling, "I see the wires!" - CCS Remedy: "Come on, admitting you've been conned isn't that bad. Think of it like realizing the magician pulls rabbits out of hats, not thin air." - TDS Remedy: "Hey, take a breath. Sometimes it’s okay to let a tweet pass by without a full investigation. Not every blip is a bombshell." In the grand scheme of things, both CCS and TDS could use a little bit of perspective, a dash of humor, and a lot less stress. After all, life’s too short to be stuck in a syndrome, right? So, whether you’re staunchly defending or constantly critiquing, remember to laugh along the way. Because in the end, we’re all just trying to navigate this crazy world, one conundrum at a time.

September 11, 2024 The border crisis has been moved, by the Biden/Harris Administration, across America to your state where your state tax dollars will have to deal with all the medical, hospital, educational, housing, crime and other costs for the millions of illegals. An army of terrorist “gotaways” are now in America. An estimated 100,000 gotaways a month, 1,200,000 a year. Are they criminals, sex predators, mentally ill, human traffickers, gang members, drug cartel members, terrorists or sleeper cells? An army of terrorists now in America will make the 911 World Trade Center look like a warm-up and no one is paying attention! Only 19 terrorists to take out the World Trade Center and we have over one million, per year, “gotaways” that crossed the border. Just think what 190,000 terrorists will be able to do. The border and America are not secure. Our cities are not safe. America is not safe.

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, which marks a pivotal moment in American history. Juneteenth symbolizes freedom and the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19th, 1865, Union Army general Gordon Granger proclaimed freedom for slaves in Texas nearly 2 ½ years after the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. Today, Martin Robison Delany, 1st black major in US Army appointed during US Civil War. He was also arguably the first proponent of black nationalism. Delany is credited with the Pan-African slogan of "Africa for Africans." He was a fascinating man.
