Together with my colleagues, Naomi Tuinstra , Rory W. from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ghana, we had the chance of meetings with top Management of the Cocoa Health & Extension Division of the COCOA BOARD GHANA to share valuable insights about our various strategic focus in the cocoa sector. Clearly, increased productivity at the farm level driven by the adoption of climate smart production practices is pivotal in achieving living income for farmers. We had very fruitful exchanges in this direction and are looking forward to a stronger working collaboration in creating a sustainable cocoa sector that is without #child#labour and #deforestation. This is achievable through working in partnership and we are committed in this direction. #cocoa#Netherlands#sustainability#Living income #eudr

To improve access to water and the reliability of water services, the program is designed to reduce the burdens of water collection, particularly impacting women and children, and to decrease health risks associated with poor water quality. #SASaWa is structured around 3 core pillars that guide its comprehensive strategy to improve water access and management:
💧 Water Innovation: Focuses on introducing and scaling innovative, financially viable WASH solutions to ensure safe water reaches the most vulnerable communities in urban, peri-urban, and rural settings.
💧 WASH Systems Strengthening: Enhances the capacity and resilience of the entire WASH ecosystem, empowering local municipalities, utilities, NGOs, and other water service providers to deliver high-quality, reliable, and affordable services.
💧 Catalytic Infrastructure Investments: Supports critical infrastructure development through risk mitigation, technical assistance, and project preparation, setting the stage for significant investments from various sectors.
The SASaWa initiative exemplifies a strategic, multi-faceted approach to addressing critical water issues in Kenya's ASALs. By building on the solid foundations of established programs and focusing on innovative, sustainable solutions, #SASaWa is poised to make a lasting impact on the region's water security.

Today the EnviroGreen Care Association of Zambia (EGCAZ) attend a training workshop on how to make briquettes which took place at St Andrews UCZ church in woodlands , Lusaka.
We learnt that the briquettes emit no smoke or dust. That the briquettes burn longer than traditional charcoal. Also that as an alternative energy source briquettes reduce on wood-cutting as wood cutting greatly contributes to deforestation.
As EGCAZ we continue to uphold our primary mission of protection and care for the planet under SDG 7 and 13 whilst also empowering communities.
SDG 7 addresses affordable and clean energy. Ensuring clean and cheap energy is not only vital, but it is at the center of ending poverty and protecting the planet.
As EGCAZ we remain committed to empowering communities. We also continue to enlighten the communities we work with on dangers of persistent cutting down of trees for firewood and charcoal whilst offering this alternative of briquettes making.
This year we plan to train our various community groups on briquette production for cooking and for sale with the aim to create sustainable livelihoods.

Rwanda is setting a remarkable example for environmental sustainability in Africa. Known for its pristine landscapes and clean cities, Rwanda's journey towards environmental excellence is truly inspiring.
In 2008, Rwanda became one of the few countries in the world to implement a nationwide ban on plastic bags. This bold move has drastically reduced plastic waste, contributing to the country's beautiful and clean environment.
Moreover, Rwanda's unique community initiative, "Umuganda," involves a monthly nationwide clean-up day. Every last Saturday of the month, citizens come together to clean their neighborhoods, build infrastructure, and engage in community service. This collective effort fosters a culture of environmental responsibility and civic pride.
Rwanda's commitment to sustainability doesn't stop there. The country has also invested in renewable energy, reforestation projects, and sustainable agriculture, aiming to balance economic growth with environmental protection.
Rwanda's efforts are a testament to what can be achieved when a nation prioritizes the environment. It serves as a model for other countries aspiring to create a sustainable future.
