In healthcare, the basic fundamental of leadership is: Are you representing the needs of the patients and your staff to the higher echelons of power—or is it the other way around? The answer should be simple, but in many cases it’s not, and therein sits the basis of leadership success or failure.

Nurses are still being fired. Nurse educators, too. Why? Speaking the truth in poorly led organizations is unacceptable. "Hi Ann, I just needed to tell someone, I spoke up in my academic position, pushed for change, wouldn't compromise, and was fired over Zoom, without notice. This world is crazy. Those who remain in leadership are clueless. It is madness. Thanks for always speaking out." Please don't tell me we have a shortage of nurses. We have a shortage of talented and effective leaders in healthcare. Healthcare administration is not for the faint of heart. ❤️ #engagement #hospitals #healthcareonlinkedin #nursesonlinkedin #respect #voices

7moThis is so true. I have seen this predictable cycle in my facility at least 40 times. It's bad not only for nurses but also for physicians, patients and the community. It's so predictable and unimaginative. It's great to see an emerging new paradigm!
