Coordinating events for positive change! We raised over $200k with Her Imperial Highness, Princess Yoko of Mikasa, Japan and @bingo_japan @backwallproject The proceeds will go to the earthquake victims in #wajimajapan and in particular to help rebuild their town, which was once full of artists, including those shown here. Education should prepare children to participate as active citizens, teaching them about responsibility and a sense of community. Actually, in practice it all starts on one´s home threshold... with many choices from adults.

Happy #internationaldayofplay! Like this kid in #Tirana shows us, play is fluid, it doesn’t start and stop on a schedule! But play time can only be all the time if we build for that. So let’s commit to build space for a skip, climb, clamber, crouch, crawl, leap, or maybe just linger, in every street in every neighborhood, for every kid. #PLAY is the way! 🌍 Celebrating National Volunteer Week: Spotlight on Alfajiri and Our Volunteers in Nairobi, Kenya 🌍 In the heart of Nairobi, a heartwarming mission unfolds through Alfajiri, a dedicated non-profit striving to change the lives of homeless children. These children, numbering around 60,000, face unimaginable hardships—from surviving the streets due to the loss of parents or abuse to being viewed negatively by the community. Trenton Dodds, Matthew Anderson, Hayden Hedrington, and Jacob Lipke—our selfless Benedictine Volunteers, have spent the last 8 months engaging with these children at Alfajiri and are committed to raising awareness and funds to support Alfajiri’s critical work. 🎨 Through art-based interventions, Alfajiri helps these children escape the streets and embrace the promise of education. They provide essential needs like food, clothing, and educational support, and have successfully helped hundreds of children find hope away from street life and destitution. 🤝 How You Can Help: $1 feeds a child for a day. $10 provides new clothes and shoes. $40 covers lodging for a month. $60 supports a college student’s monthly food and lodging needs. $150 covers a semester's primary school fees including books and meals. Every dollar makes a significant difference in Kenya, stretching far to create opportunities and nurture dreams. If you believe in transforming lives and giving hope, please consider making a donation to support Alfajiri’s continued mission. Share their story and help amplify their impact. ➡️ https://gofund.me/830d5cb5 ⬅️ Let's unite in support during #NationalVolunteerWeek and bring positive changes to the lives of children who need it most. Also, if you have some time today, please watch the new documentary on Alfajiri to get a full insight on the day to day at this program: #Alfajiri #ArtRehabilitation #EducationForAll

rebuilding together, remembering forever In the heart of Belarus lies a forgotten cemetery, a silent witness to the tumultuous history of the Jewish people in Eastern Europe. The Brest-Litovsk (Brisk) Jewish cemetery, once a sacred ground for generations of Jews, has faded into obscurity, its stories buried beneath layers of time and neglect – a site that is unmarked with not a gravestone in sight. But now, a beacon of remembrance is set to rise from the shadows, thanks to an ambitious crowdfunding campaign led by The Together Plan, our sister organization. A mission is clear: to shine a light on this forgotten history and to ensure that the voices of the past are heard. As antisemitism around the world rears its ugly head once more, it is imperative that we confront the shadows of the past in order to build a brighter future for all. The upcoming crowdfunding campaign which will run for 36 hours from the 19th to the 20th May aims to construct a memorial at the site of the Brest-Litovsk Jewish cemetery, reclaiming the lost stories of generations past. This memorial will serve as more than just a monument; it will be a gateway to understanding, a beacon of hope, and a symbol of resilience in the face of adversity. Join us and The Together Plan in this noble endeavour to honour the past, empower the present, and inspire hope for the future🤍 Find out more on The Together Plan website: https://lnkd.in/e_rQAV5N Join the crowd: https://lnkd.in/ex6YfyUd #Brest #Brisk #BrestLitovsk #memorial #project #campaign

*Palestinian & Israeli Emergent Peace Gathering* In the face of war, hate and separation, we designed a first of its kind, 10-day immersive gathering to bring together grassroot leaders, our mixed community of experienced activists, to do this complex and delicate work. We are asking: As activists and leaders, how can we gather our collective wisdom to transform the grief and isolation of war into community healing, groundbreaking initiatives, and heartfelt activism? We will train in community practices such as The Art of Hosting, Non-Violent Communication, and Nonviolent Resistance. We have designed a unique participatory program that moves from structured training into emergent spaces of creation and self-organisation, because we need new paradigms and groundbreaking initiatives that support a free and peaceful future for all. We are fundraising to enable participants from Palestine to join us. It costs approximately 1’500 Euro to cover the visa and travel costs for one participant and with your support we would like to sponsor 10 activists from the Westbank of Palestine. This fundraiser will also cover travel costs for our team of nine, renting a car and buying stationary for our gathering. Please donate, share our story and this fundraiser, or just hold us in your prayers. We believe. Believe with us. Many thanks Maya, Mai, Noa, Mike, Ging, Mariam, Ingrid, Rory Lee más aquí https://gofund.me/6f938b61

Today, in a slight break from the norm, rather than focussing on bins, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our favourite artists…. Although yes, this sculpture does contain a bin! Jon Williams is a Royal College of Art graduate who uses commonplace drama, ritual and folklore as the inspiration for his beautifully crafted pieces. Most recently, Jon raised funds for NHS charities during the nationwide lockdown by throwing 100 decorated porcelain tea bowls, one of which was acquired by The Museum of London, who documented London’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Find out more about Jon’s work at: https://buff.ly/3SNjxEl . . . . . #jonwilliamsceramics #ceramics #ceramicsart #sculpture #sculptureart #fox #foxinabin #regencyrecycle #teamregency #recycle #recycling #recyclingiscool #recyclinggoals #zerowaste #waste #wastemanagement #wastecollection #wasteclearance #wasteclearancelondon #london #londonlife #licensedwastecarrier #clearance #clearances #houseclearance #commercialcleaning #keepbritaintidy #sustainability #conservation #cleanup #cleanupcrew #circulareconomy #everyjobisdifferent #customerservice #servicewithasmile

Researching children and young people's philanthropic and active citizenship, education and social justice, and teaching philanthropic studies and social policy.
Some really interesting and important topics here! Looking forward to these.
There are three more weeks until our first week of Uncharitable Festival! Thanks to the support of Civic Power Fund and The Tudor Trust we have been able to release even more free tickets and partner with Interpreters Of Colour Network for another year to provide BSL interpretation. Accessible knowledge is so important to us, and we know how often smaller organisations and workers on lower income are priced out of conferences in the third sector. We have four events for our first week of Uncharitable Festival, with incredible speakers Khadijah Diskin and Natalie Armitage from JMB, Edem Barbara Ntumy from Reproductive Justice Initiative, Orsod Malik from Stuart Hall Foundation, and Mohammed Elnaiem from The Decolonial Centre - and many more who we will be announcing in the lead up. See you there!

Such an important conversation to join - “We must find new ways to deliver aid that prioritize safety, security, and direct impact. This is not just a logistical challenge but a moral one, requiring a committed re-evaluation of how philanthropy interacts with the most vulnerable populations in times of crisis. … And there is another, more sensitive, consideration we have to address as a sector: At what point do we insist that philanthropy cannot remain neutral if it is going to properly carry out its “duty of care” when it comes to humanitarian aid? When do we dispense with the platitudes and confront the idea that, in some cases, we have to take a moral stand to do our jobs effectively?”
For our half-Palestinian CEO Naila Taji Farouky, watching the devastation of #Gaza causes both personal and professional anguish. As she says in her latest blog post, philanthropy is failing in its duty of care toward Gazans, who are grappling with the challenges of survival and displacement in the face of insurmountable violence and forced starvation - we need to do so much more. Read it here: https://bit.ly/3Xe6aAU #philanthropy #arabphilanthropy #crisis #FreePalestine
