Why are we so excited about a task chair that ships "knocked down"(KD)? Traditionally, high-end task chairs ship fully assembled. KD allows us to fit 3x as many chairs in a truckload, reducing our carbon footprint and cost. Previously prohibitive extra time, money, and complexity to assemble is solved by Breck which assembles in 23(!) seconds and no tools. One of the many ways Breck is "smartly sustainable" and making sustainable options more accessible. Can Guinness World Records verify if this is the current WR?

Last night I had the unique opportunity of being a “fly on the wall” and getting a glimpse into what the culture and group outings are like at Zweig Group’s #1 Best Firm to Work For for 3 years in a row now. Yup, you guessed it, it’s Garver! Some friends of mine and I decided to try out the new K1 Speed in Rogers yesterday and were told that a company event would be wrapping up at 8 and that we could be worked in after it was over. No worries, we got some food and came back around 8 and sure enough, there seemed to be a Garver employee event going on. We proceeded to alternate races with the Garver group for the next couple hours and like us, they seemed to be having quite a grand time. They were even still going strong after we left! I truly believe that if you’ve built a company with staff that actively want to hang out with each other beyond 9:30pm, you’ve created something special. Hats off to Garver! As for K1 Speed, what a place! The carts are pretty dang fast and the track is well-maintained. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. The first cart I drove had a steering knuckle break mid-turn about halfway through (thankful for the shock-absorbing walls or my neck would be feeling it today) and they were happy to comp me another race that I plan on using soon. Highly recommend! Bottom Line/TLDR: Invest in your culture. It pays dividends with regards to marketing, recruiting and retention when the general public sees your employees having fun hanging out with each other. Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to see the 2024 Olympics Mens 100m final in Paris. A week before I had no idea who the finalists were and global interest was seemingly at an all-time low for the event. After 40m the eventual winner was in last place and I was reminded that a race isn't always about the start, just like starting a business, it's often about perseverance. Taking over Jenolite from Shell was a slow burn for us in the first few years, with a brand and business that had almost been consigned to history. Pivoting Jenolite from traditional distribution into e-commerce in 2018, has seen the brand surge forward in both sales and recognition over the past 5 years. Our YoY sales increases have at times amazed us but they are testament to the hard work the team has put in over that period. It was a privilege to watch what has been called the best Mens 100m Final of all time, with such a close finish and one athlete coming from seemingly nowhere to be crowned champion, gaining much greater global notoriety. We would never claim to have gained the same but it shows that hard work, perseverance and a belief that we will get there, can, and will pay off eventually.
