Yesterday, our Huntress Leeds team dedicated their time to volunteering for Yorkshire Children's Charity, their selected charity for this year. Alongside our sister company, NextGen Teachers, our team will be fundraising for this fantastic charity, which helps thousands of disadvantaged children in Yorkshire.
Well done to our team for taking part in an amazing day of cycling and outdoor activities for the children at North Yorkshire Water Park, and keep an eye out for the team's next session in September!

Since joining Prosperity 24/7, I've come to realise that there's not much that brings us together like a good Love to Ride challenge. We managed to top our respective leaderboards in the recent May challenge, although Greener Kirkcaldy gave us an excellent run for our money.
We got new people involved in the challenge, we saved an estimated 546lb CO2 through cycling instead of driving and as well as cheering on our usual stalwarts, I also discovered which colleagues will come through last thing on a Friday and undertake a round-the-island-cycle for the extra miles...
Sure, winning is fun but what's really nice is to see the behaviour changes starting to take root in the segment of our company that aren't die-hard cyclists (and I include myself in that). Last September I noted that I'm a reluctant cyclist but I'm becoming less reluctant and more willing to do that commute by bicycle. I've also noticed our bike store becoming busier and less frequent cyclists populating the Love to Ride feed more often. That's no mean feat. As someone who deals with change while delivering projects, change isn't always easy to embed but I've always been a fan of gamification as motivation in the right settings.
And one of those right settings will be Prosperity Day in September, when our colleagues and clients will compete for bragging rights but also for the much better reason of raising money for charity - this year, we're supporting Healing Waves UK and Jersey Hospice Care - two very deserving charities. So, if you want to do your part, why not sign up for or donate to the tenth Prosperity Day?

It's #WorldBicycleDay! So what better day to tell you that the 10th edition of Prosperity Day is ready to launch! 🚀 So far we've raised £160,000 for charity and this year we want to raise £40,000 for Jersey Hospice Care and Healing Waves UK
Our annual charity fundraising event sees corporate rivals go ‘head to head to head’ in a fast paced stationary cycling challenge. Using our brand new Wahoo KICKR bikes to complete a virtual 30 minute race using 3D Race technology, teams of three will compete against each other to gain race day points which are added to their all important fundraising total and will see who tops the podium.

I echo what Stephen has said. Our volunteering day at St Luke's Charity Shop in Crookes, Sheffield was indeed "hard work, but fun."
Spending the whole day on our feet was quite tiring for those of us who usually sit at a desk...
More importantly, it was a real eye opener too, highlighting the following points:
1). How much effort goes into running a Charity Shop, particularly behind the scenes.
2). How much money is needed by St Luke's each year in order to keep doing their fantastic work.
Total required this year is £14 Million. NHS funds 25% so that leaves c.£10.5 Million to be raised through donations, legacies, retail shops and other activities.
Many thousands of Sheffield folks will have their lives touched in some way by St Luke's. So if you can spare your time to volunteer, or are able to donate (either cash or unwanted items) then please give generously.
You will be supporting a great cause!

🌟 Yesterday, some of the DeeperThanBlue team had a fantastic time volunteering at St Luke's - Sheffield's Hospice charity shop in Crookes, Sheffield! We spent the day sorting clothes and CDs, sharing laughs with the wonderful staff, and getting a solid workout in the process.
It was inspiring to see the hard work that goes on day-in-day-out to keep the shelves full and raise funds for this excellent charity. A huge shoutout to Emma, the store manager, and the rest of the St Luke's team for showing us the ropes and making us feel so welcome. We hope we made a bit of a difference! 💙 Great work Jane, Pete, Holly, Josh and Stephen #Volunteering#CommunitySupport#DeeperThanBlue
Communication is more than words, and the smiles on our faces demonstrate just how much we enjoyed being a part of Run Reigate on Sunday!
Thank you so much to everyone who helped out: those behind the scenes who help events happen, the volunteers behind the stall, the choir members who sang, the people who came and talked to us, cheered us on or watched us sing, and last but not least, our fantastic running team in their tutus, rainbows and big foam hands.
As a small charity, community fundraising efforts make a HUGE difference. We appreciate every bit of support and we love meeting you all at local events, especially one like Run Reigate which supports so many fantastic local charities.
There is still time to donate to Include and our runners! Follow this link to see our fundraising progress: https://lnkd.in/e37hD62P#runreigate2024#runreigate#runseries#runners#fundraising#charity#surrey#choir#speechandlanguagetherapy#inclusion#communication#community#supportlocal#thankyou

⏰ Finding time outside of work and daily life can be difficult, especially at the start of a new year. If you don't feel that you have time to spare for volunteering, why not sign up to our easyfundraising page and help out every time you shop, spend and even book holidays online?
😊 easyfundraising is completely free to use and only requires shopping through their webpage, where hundreds of merchants have partnered with them to generate income for charities like Girlguiding Anglia. All funds raised through easyfundraising directly impact girls and units in our region.

Really interesting read about the wider impact and SROI of charity shops. 29% of the £75.3 billion in social value generated by charity shops is linked to a sense of community, and being met with friendliness and the compassion people report when visiting a charity shop. I like this very much.
Key take out: every £1 spent operating charity shops generates an additional £7.35 in social value.
