It was time I guess to put all the experience in a concise form - Trying to delve into the practical aspects of foundations design subjected to cyclic and dynamic loads - The ICE manual for Geotechnical Engineering is out now and all chapters have been revised and we attempted to revise Chapter 60 with some practical tips and tricks. The revised Chapter covers some basic seismic design suggestions, answers questions about when should SSI is used, some modelling pitfalls and suggested further reading. I have been utilising a book for a while named “Basic Earthquake Engineering” written and by Prof. Dr. Haluk Sucuoğlu and Prof. Dr. Sinan Akkar to refresh my knowledge about earthquake engineering. I wanted to share it because I thought that my recommendation may inspire younger or less experienced engineers to explore new topics and continue their professional development. Book itself includes chapters related to areas from seismology to analysis and design. Especially chapter 7 Seismic Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures gives very important hints for required details in design to mitigate the adverse effects of earthquake over buildings. Hope anyone who engaged that book will find out some useful informations to be used in building design comply with related engineering codes. #earthquakeengineering

⚛️🚀 Impressive full scale earthquake resistance test comparing the performance of a regular wooden house and a reinforced wooden house. Large shaking table tests are fundamental research elements for structural engineering, facilitating research, innovation, and technological progress. 👨🏻🏫 These tests are made on full scale models of buildings and infrastructure to simulate seismic forces to assess structural behavior, validating design methods, enhancing earthquake resilience, using control systems for different earthquake scenarios. ⚛️ The knowledge transfer resulting from these tests are very helpful for the enhancement of earthquake-resistant construction methods and retrofit strategies for existing structures. #engineering #innovation #research #technology #resilience #civilengineering 🎥 by NEESIT
