Six months ago, we launched an ambitious restructuring program designed to center the business on operational excellence and bottom-line economics. This program has driven significant improvements to unit economics in our Digital Assets Mining segment despite the halving event in April. "If there’s a takeaway, it’s this: We prioritize fundamentals above all else, and we invest capital only when we believe it will create enduring shareholder value. This philosophy has guided us in the past and it will continue to guide us in the future." - Asher Genoot, CEO of Hut 8

Tough sell, when you consider that 90% of innovations fail (Howard Tiersky in Insights, link in comments), but competition with yourself can "ignite a fire that fuels continuous improvement", as Seline Shenoy notes in The Dream Catcher (link also below). Surely that's a positive! The mining industry is always innovating – developing new ideas and processes to improve efficiency, output, revenue, costs, etc, while minimizing negative impacts. On a personal level, we can advance by building skills and relationships to support individual/shared goals while mentoring others. As always, balance is important. "Once you balance competition with yourself and other people, you'll emerge a winner, regardless of what others think." – thanks again to Howard for this!

So, earlier today, my business partner and I had a meeting with a Lemok Agency client in the mining industry. Let's just say we didn’t see eye to eye. Examining the situation, the disconnect became evident. The client's brief, well, it wasn't exactly crystal clear. This, in turn, led our creative team to interpret things in their own way, potentially missing the mark on the client's true vision. I did address this head-on with the client. Their lack of a well-defined brief, I pointed out, translates into wasted time and resources for our team. Reflecting afterwards, it struck me: as business leaders, we need to identify the root cause of issues. The "customer is always right" adage, well, it needs an asterisk sometimes.

Executive Search - Mining - Board / Management / Technical | Helping companies with their difficult vacancies -🎙Host of the Dig Deep The Mining Podcast
What you need to do to become a CEO in Mining. What we have learnt so far: 💥 First Post – I mentioned that the ability to promote a business is a vital one if you want to become a CEO. 💥Second Post – CEO’s revealed in a poll the vast majority mostly learnt to do that from a mentor or coach. 💥Third Post – CEO outlines what it takes to make a mentoring relationship work. So, I’m here to make sure his message gets across to anyone who is in mining. ✅ Mentee must want to learn May seem obvious but sometimes that learning means you will be told you are doing something the wrong way and need to change. Not everyone is ready to hear that, but those that are will benefit most. In fact, he gave a beautiful summary of this – “Listen to understand, not to respond.” ✅ Mentor wants to share Again, obvious, but it’s about the Mentor really engaging in the process and being willing to sacrifice time and thought into giving the real answers to the questions you have. ✅ Mentee drives the relationship This can feel strange, given the mentor is usually the more senior person but the whole dynamic needs to be driven by the mentee. You know what you need, you know how much and how fast you want to change. When you take ownership and drive the change, it’s a symptom of how much you really want to change. I’d like to thank both Timothy Livesey & Richard Price for their input. #Mining #MiningLeadership #MiningCEO #MiningMentor #MiningInsights

Pre Weekend update on the work of the JD/MBA students on lead role representations in big ticket M&A ytd-Torys and Goodmans very close at the top. Gap in the seven sisters-3 to 1 top to bottom. Obviously, will need full six months results to complete. As noted previously, firms strong in mining very strong in transactions just below the big ticket transactions.
