Meet the first woman at Barrick Pueblo Viejo to operate the largest excavator at the mine. Marisol Mckenzie has been a heavy equipment operator at Pueblo Viejo for eight years. She initially started working on site as a contractor for a cleaning company — and didn’t want to leave without driving heavy equipment. Recently certified to operate the Hitachi 3600 excavator, Marisol says this field of work may look like a man’s job to many, but with the right passion, there are no barriers for anyone.
