With collaboration, innovation and a patient first mindset, we are able to make a difference for even our youngest patients. Thank you Dr. Jonna Jenkins for finding ways to get to the “yes” for our patients and partnering departments. We are excited for the possibility of what reopening Pediatrics will do for the health of children and families. #hrhs #healthcarecollaboration #peds
As the demand for care swells and staffing levels still fall short, hospital capacity issues aren't budging. Some leaders are rising to the challenge with creative solutions — like sharing vital clinical resources within their localities. Dr. Jonna Jenkins, DNP, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services, Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, said her organization is reopening its pediatric unit — something she recognizes as "unusual" amid widespread unit closures. "The pediatric hospital that's located close to us is at maximum capacity most of the time," Dr. Jenkins told Becker's in the short video below. To increase patients' access to services, as well as upskill nurses at Hutchinson to deliver pediatric care, a partnership between the entities and sharing staff was an easy call. "It will help to take care of those pediatric patients that sometimes wait in EDs for hours and hours," Dr. Jenkins said. Forward-thinking, collaborative strategies that address healthcare's pervasive challenges are at the core of discussions at Becker's 12th Annual CEO + CFO Roundtable. Here, top decision-makers from hospitals and health systems across the country gather to share how they're innovating and where they're headed. Join us in November 2024: https://hubs.ly/Q02Jnznd0
