Celebration of Indigenous History Month🧡✨ We are honored to host the photo exhibition “UNCEDED: S7ULH TEMÍXW / TI TMICWKÁLHA / OUR LAND – A Photographic Journey into Belonging”. This stunning exhibit, created and curated by the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre in Whistler, will be on display in our lobby throughout June. This exhibition invites you to reshape your understanding of land, emphasizing that the land does not belong to us; we belong to the land. In addition to the exhibition, we will also have pop-up booths showcasing a variety of Indigenous-owned businesses. This is an excellent opportunity to support and learn from the community. Join us in celebrating Indigenous History Month by experiencing this meaningful exhibition and visiting the pop-up booths at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver’s lobby. #HyattRegencyVancouver #IndigenousHistoryMonth #UNCEDED #IndigenousCulture #SquamishLilwatCulturalCentre #OurLand #PhotoExhibition

We have been crunching the numbers on the industrial heritage survey that we have been doing for Historic England and The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust. Some headlines from our work so far… - 48% of sites are owned by a preservation trust or society; 25% are in local authority ownership - 45% of sites are accredited museums - On average each site spent £192,163 on repairs and maintenance over the last three years - 53% of sites had found it ‘quite difficult’ to secure public sector funding in the last three years; only 40% had sought sought private sector support - The majority of volunteers are over 65 years old; 74% of sites said they found it ‘fairly difficult’ or ‘very difficult’ to attract new volunteers, and especially young volunteers - Over 40 million people visited independent designated industrial heritage sites during the last three years, the majority of whom were non-specialist family audiences Still lots more to unravel — but a mixed picture, with lots of scope for future development. The full report will be out later in the summer, and we will do a more comprehensive update in the next few weeks. ** Hardworking Dreamer and CEO at City Wide Jani Inc. ** Your business IS my business! Let me be your partner in success by helping you create a Commercial Cleaning Plan
Local cultural institutions — museums, theaters, libraries, and galleries — are the pillars of heritage and history within our communities. These spaces not only house artistic and historical treasures but also foster a sense of identity and continuity. The key to their enduring legacy? Regular maintenance. Here’s why keeping these cultural beacons well-maintained is crucial: Preservation: Regular upkeep ensures that artworks, artifacts, and historical documents are preserved for future generations to explore and understand. Public Engagement: A well-maintained space is inviting, encouraging more visitors to engage with and support local culture. Safety: Regular checks and maintenance ensure these institutions remain safe havens for community gatherings and learning. While we can't take credit for the upkeep of iconic pieces like The Hartwell Memorial Window, we dream of one day applying our expertise to such magnificent testaments of cultural beauty. Until then, City Wide Jani is proud to contribute to the preservation of cultural keystones through dedicated maintenance, helping ensure that the stories, art, and history they hold remain vibrant and accessible to all. Let's cherish and uphold the legacy of our local cultural institutions together. Their preservation is our collective responsibility. #CulturalPreservation #MaintenanceMatters #CityWideJani

Unlikely Monuments exhibition curated by Giovanna Calvenzi From 31st January to 7th February 2024 Istituto Storico Parri, Bologna Promoted by Istituto Storico Parri and Lavì City on the occasion of Art City Bologna 2024 On show part of an ongoing series of monuments dedicated to women who have had a public role or a relevant role in the public sphere, known, unknown, or forgotten. These monuments are undoubtedly unlikely, like many of the places in which they are placed in this series, which is nothing but imaginary cataloguing as much as the monuments themselves. What is also proposed is a reflection on the meaning of "monument", on how we are remembered and how we would like to be represented, perhaps through other forms than the patriarchal ones that monuments have assumed. The series is presented as an excerpt from a catalogue.

Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past. ATTN NASHVILLIANS WHO WANT TO ACTIVELY SHAPE OUR FUTURE… are you also controlling the past?? Are you controlling your present?? If you haven’t already signed up, this is an incredibly powerful way to take this moment in time to directly impact the way we move in the future… to combat the censorship and revisionist history some other (ahem) groups are pushing. Historians know that it’s not just about interrogating the voices we do hear, but also interrogating the cause of absent voices. And asking “If the voice were present, what would it say? How would it impact the story that’s being told?” Too much of history education is already reduced to excerpts and quotes taken out of context, and truly voices are at real risk of erasure. Come hear their stories before they’re lost to history so that we can impact a more thoughtful, inclusive future. Also Tamyra Gordon MSEd is just really fantastic and you should support her work. 💥
