Rhodium Group released a new report on the economic benefits of the federal hydrogen hubs selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Rhodium analyzed four of the seven federal hydrogen hubs and estimated each one will result in thousands of new jobs in the construction and installation phase, as well as hundreds more ongoing jobs related to continued operations. The Great Plains Institute commissioned Rhodium Group to conduct this independent analysis exploring the economic benefits associated with four of the hydrogen hubs. Hubs analyzed include the Appalachian, California, Gulf Coast, and Midwest hydrogen hubs. The HyVelocity hub in the Gulf Coast saw the highest estimated new job opportunities, with a reported annual average of 12,600 to 17,500 jobs during the construction period and a total of 1,000 to 1,700 ongoing jobs for operations and maintenance. Venn Brown sat down with Glenn Corrie, CEO of Hazer Group Limited, to discuss the progress of the commercialisation demonstration plant, customers, lower estimated levelized cost of hydrogen, revenue outlook and key milestones. Commercialisation Demonstration Plant (CDP): Hazer has just announced that its CDP has completed a continuous 240-hour stable operating campaign, a 30% step up from the 182-hour operation completed in May. The plant is operating as designed with almost 98% uptime, and only a few minor issues arising from peripheral systems. Results from the CDP continue to allow Hazer to refine its modelling, with the group confirming the process requires significantly lower energy than expected: 8-10kWh rather than 10-13kWh per kilogram of hydrogen. Management expects to declare commercial readiness by the end of 2024. Reduction in Levelised Cost of Hydrogen: Process optimisations, improved energy efficiency, higher graphite price expectations and lower operating expenditure have lowered Hazer’s expected LCOH expectations. Revenue outlook: The 240-hour operation unlocks the next round of ARENA funding, with cash expected in January 2025. This presentation provides a comprehensive review of potential coating and liner technologies for hydrogen pipelines and equipment, as well as the relevant testing methods, best practices, standards, codes, and applicable Canadian regulations. In addition to protecting pipeline infrastructure from corrosion and mechanical damage, coating and liner are envisioned as a mitigation measure addressing the unique technical challenges posed by gaseous hydrogen and new technologies in hydrogen pipelines. These challenges include gaseous hydrogen embrittlement, energy transportation efficiency, repurposing existing natural gas pipelines for hydrogen service, blending hydrogen into natural gas pipelines, and the side effects of hydrogen embrittlement inhibitors. The recent successful testing of an exploration well in Australia marks a significant advancement in producing hydrogen from underground reservoirs. The Ramsay project by Gold Hydrogen, located on the Yorke Peninsula near Adelaide, has reported high purity levels of natural hydrogen, reaching up to 95.8%, and helium from drilling at depths of 531 metres. It is great to see these results for Gold Hydrogen as the successful demonstration of natural hydrogen extraction is a positive step forward for our industry. The increasing interest and investment in white hydrogen, backed by significant figures like Bill Gates, enhance the credibility and financial backing for companies in this sector, offering HyTerra substantial growth opportunities. #hydrogen #production Less than 4% of projects in Northwest Europe underpinning the expected low-emissions hydrogen production by 2030 have already reached a final investment decision (FID) or are under construction, according to the Northwest European Hydrogen Monitor 2024 from the IEA https://lnkd.in/et4PfzpE ✅ Some additional facts: 📌 More than 95% are currently undergoing feasibility studies or are in the concept phase in Northwest Europe. 📌 In contrast, in North America, 14% of potential low-emissions hydrogen supply by 2030 will be supported by projects that are either operational, have reached FID, or are under construction. 📌 In China, projects that are either operational or in a mature development phase (FID and/or under construction) account for more than half of the expected low-emissions hydrogen supply by 2030.

Gold Hydrogen Ltd’s recent achievement in South Australia is notable—they reported extraordinary purities of helium (17.5%) and natural hydrogen (95.8%) during Stage 1 well testing of their Ramsay Project. However, it's essential to approach "gold hydrogen" with a healthy dose of skepticism regarding its scalability and commercial feasibility. The field is at it's early stages, and the path to consistent, high-volume production is fraught with challenges. For industry professionals, this development is worth monitoring. It highlights the potential for innovation but also underscores the need for thorough validation and practical application. As we strive for sustainable hydrogen solutions, let's remain focused on technologies that promise reliability and scalability.

Hydrogen BC and Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA) extend our congratulations to member Quantum Technology Corp. who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NTE Discovery Park LTD regarding the co-development of green hydrogen production plants in Campbell River, B.C., Canada. The proposed first pilot phase of the project with a daily production target of 15 metric tons per day of green hydrogen gas and liquid, is intended to provide mobility fuels for Vancouver Island, Powell River and Vancouver markets. The potential second phase will be a full-scale project with an expanded capacity and will deliver green liquid hydrogen to Vancouver and Victoria regions for heavy transportation. H2SITE has designed and constructed an #ammonia #cracker utilizing #membrane reactor technology to produce #fuelcell-grade #hydrogen for the Ammogen Project located at Tyseley Energy Park (TEP), UK. The project will use ammonia to store hydrogen and convert it into hydrogen in one step.   H2SITE’s ammonia cracking and separation technology consists of the integration of hydrogen-selective #membranes immersed in a catalytic bed where ammonia is cracked into its constituent products. As the reaction produces hydrogen, the technology separates the hydrogen in-situ through these membranes, eliminating the need for downstream separation units. The selective separation of hydrogen in H2SITE’s membrane reactors results in virtually complete ammonia conversions at mild temperatures, with over 98% hydrogen recovery, always meeting fuel cell-grade standards. The system designed and assembled by H2SITE will produce 200 kg of hydrogen per day. The hydrogen produced will be ready for #mobility applications in the Birmingham area.

⚡ InnoTech Alberta will open Canada's first Hydrogen Quality Centre in summer-fall 2024. The lab will test hydrogen samples from industry for its purity. This is a vital part of producing hydrogen for vehicles and other high-end uses, no different than testing the quality of gasoline. Previously, Alberta-made hydrogen had to be sent to labs in the United States, a more costly and lengthy option. 🚀 This lab is now open for business!
