When will #efuels start replacing #fossilfuels in the #maritime sector? And will #ammonia or e-#methanol win the race? As exact timing of a substantial replacement is rather difficult to predict, the race between ammonia and e-methanol will be won initially by e-methanol according to the most recent article in #hydrogen insight. The simple reason is, that methanol is more expensive to produce, but ammonia is more expensive to handle.

"K" line (Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd)has signed a marine #biofuel supply contract with World Fuel Services, facilitating the use of B100 biofuel, a 100% #biodiesel, for the car carrier Apollon Highway. The ship was supplied with the biofuel at #Zeebrugge, Belgium, on March 31st and began its test voyage on April 1st, completing it on April 30th. The biofuel used this time was made from renewable organic resources such as biomass, avoiding the use of raw materials that compete with food and feed.
