With libraries closing and a sharp decline in the uptake of performing arts at GCSE, A-Level, and degree levels, the future of arts education looks uncertain. Will the new government learn from past mistakes and continue to invest in the arts, or will we continue to see cuts upon cuts? It’s time to prioritise creativity and education, not diminish them.
Over 13,000 people are calling on the Scottish Government to deliver on their arts funding pledges. Without action, cultural catastrophe in Scotland is imminent, with over 45 museums and galleries at risk of closure. Add your name to the petition here: https://lnkd.in/ezpCbWzy

If your first instinct is to dismiss anonymous accounts like changethemuseum, please read E.Y. Zipris’s analysis. This is a prime example of what the museum field can learn from larger patterns, rather than attacking or belittling individual voices (anonymous or not).
In the mail now and online soon! My article for the American Alliance of Museums Exhibition journal examines the effect of online activism and what museums can and should be learning from these posts. The genesis of the article began in Professor Ioana Literat's class and evolved under her guidance. This article first appeared in the journal Exhibition (Fall 2024) vol. 43, no. 2, and is reproduced with permission. https://lnkd.in/g22UeMYi

I Help Heritage Professionals to Improve Their English Communication Skills 🏆 Advance Your Studies or Job Performance in Less than 12 Weeks ⏱️ 20 years Museum Experience 🏛️ TEFL Qualified 🧑🏫 DM To Learn More 📩
✒ I love this kind of public involvement in heritage and have even sent off an email myself to Hampshire Museums to get a page to decipher! 🤞 📑 Transcription is a tricky thing, I've had some experience with it during my career, and trying to read handwriting is both fun and challenging! ❗ The top tips to remember are: ✍ Write exactly what you see - mistakes, weird spellings, abbreviations and all. ✍ Don't be tempted to guess a word if you're not sure. Make a note so someone else can check it later. ✍ Document catalogues are now designed to be accessed online. So, add as many comments, notes, and spelling updates as possible in the correct fields. This will help the document to be more searchable by researchers. 👋 Need help with writing or reading documents in English? Let’s connect! 🏛 I help arts and heritage students and professionals improve their communication skills and confidence 👩🏫 Don’t forget to follow me and ring the bell 🔔 on the profile to catch all my posts #archives #janeausten #heapoffacts #transcription #history #englishwriting

Without proper documentation of being featured in an #NFTGallery & museums... 👀 How will digital art get buy-in from trad art collectors, who question its value and legitimacy? This is one of the many reasons why we built Proof of Exhibition. For the digital creators, collectors & curators to put exhibition history onchain. https://lnkd.in/gJAsG3PG

2moThis is an on-again, off-again series that started under Charlotta Kotik decades ago. I once wrote a long review of an early iteration in ARTS MAGAZINE, now defunct of course, about how the “Brooklyn Artists” category was a rather contorted curatorial construction with little basis in reality—other than to seem responsive to community. I’d be interested in new reviews that address the subject! Is there really such a thing as a “Brooklyn Artist?” The catalogue essay must make a persuasive case for it; otherwise, I’d probably remain skeptical.
