Earlier this year, a CStore Decisions Magazine cover story discussed the long-term strategy of adding EV chargers in the fuel-reliant convenience industry. Joel Hirschboeck, GetGo's Senior Vice President of Fuel, discussed the importance of balancing our approach to promoting sustainability and allowing the demand from adoption of electric vehicles and electricity infrastructure to converge. https://lnkd.in/gGiTDJ33

Ultra-fast chargers adding range on par with ICE car refuling can be prioritised for installation at retail fuel outlets by OMCs. Really appreciate the ongoing initiatives of OMCs as every effort towards solving the charging infrastructure and range anxiety problem associated with EVs will fastrack EV adoption. Having said that, one must be curious to know whether putting up a charging station within a fuel station will really help promote EV? Here, something called as Contrast Effect comes into play. It may affect how car owners perceive EVs vs ICE. The Contrast Principle is a psychological tool that can make your product or service appear more appealing by comparing it to something else. It's like showing a black and white photo next to a color one - the color photo appears even more vibrant because of the contrast. In this case, when private EV owner (mostly a mid-senior level guy who buys 2X expensive EV car because he and his employer care about environment & tax benefits 🫢) juicing up his car, he is looking at 20+ ICE cars fueled up and ran away in front of him. Now, he thinks about wasting his valuable time (which otherwise would have been used productively) and making up his mind about whether he should have bought the EV in the first place. While those inside the ICE cars are thanking themselves for not buying an EV and saving a lot of precious time which they can use to climb corporate ladder (for them time is literally money) For example, a typical high-end EV takes 30 minutes to add range of 100 km while similar ICE car do it in a few minutes. Now this rational soul may measure his time in money terms to arrive at cost of waiting for getting his EV juiced up. Because of Contrast Effect Bias unconsciously (or deliberately) we may end up promoting the wrong product even if we are doing it in good faith. Take Tata Nano, a very good car couldn’t do well because it was compared against other rivals on its price and got promoted as poor man’s car. Indians got hurt, product didn’t do well. (personally, I love Nano) Any thoughts??? #mobility, #ev #climatechange #OMCs #Charginginfra #electriccars #fastcharging https://lnkd.in/gtzRdzSH

Even after 10 years, the Hybrid version still costs ₹6.42 lakhs more than the Petrol version. This is after accounting for the savings in fuel. I was surprised to see that, despite the fuel efficiency, the Hybrid doesn’t manage to catch up to the Petrol version financially – at least not within the first 10 years.

Whilst it may seemingly be the most unattractive time to switch to an EV, due to the cessation of the Clean Car Rebate scheme and introduction of Road User Charges for EVs, it is still an economically better situation long-term. 🚘 💵 Have you noticed any gas stations giving away free fuel? I bet not. Well, there are plenty of plenty of chargers out there, a lot of free ones too, as the Gaspy app shows in the below clip. 📈 😏 In Gaspy, you can filter your fuel type by EV and select which type of charge you use, it then displays all the known chargers on a map and you can scroll through the list (from cheapest first) to find the closest one to you. ⚡️🔋 Even without free chargers, the average charging tariff at public charge point stations in New Zealand is $0.70 per kWh. It will cost you a whopping $25.20 to charge from 20% to 80%, assuming you have a 60kWh battery. Which is a far cry from the $140 of petrol that I used to pump into my ICE SUV each week. 💰💸 Download Gaspy here: https://lnkd.in/gjxCG-Q4 #EV #economical #free #evcharging

With wildly fluctuating costs reacting to global challenges (not to mention the cost of living still being high), being able to understand the cost of getting from A to B is one of the key metrics in the purchasing decision when considering an electric car. When MINI expanded their fully-electric model line up, we had the opportunity to create a site to introduce these new models and help explain the indicative fuel savings costs of going electric compared to a traditional emissions car. We’ve also packed it full of Ownership information including the different types of chargers, servicing, a charging points map and FAQs to help customers make an informed decision to make the switch to electric. Check it out below: https://lnkd.in/eZuchEM #digitaltools #electric #cars #digitalmarketing
