However, there are ways patients may help themselves stay healthy and deal with changes in their thinking. I am excited to share a summary from the American Thoracic Society regarding our recent publication in the New England Journal of Medicine. This study emphasizes the clinical, occupational, and economic pros and cons of ignoring race in lung health assessments. The results will significantly impact Black health and clinical trials while the FDA mandates racial and ethnic diversity in clinical and biomedical research. We must prioritize our patients first. We can only do this by thoroughly assessing the downstream consequences of including or excluding race in lung function assessments on an individual patient and community level. #MedicalResearch #HealthEquity #LungHealth #PulmonaryMedicine
