Day 1 in my new position as Director of Project Development for RWE Clean Energy. Let's Go!!! My focus: Be a racehorse, keep focused on project development, help my development team get smaller 1-10 MW DG Solar and Storage projects through the ever-changing project development and permitting process, be there for them, be a resource. Find a way to "do solar right" by building legacy projects that incorporate value adders such as agrivoltaics, community enhancement, and ecosystem services. My thought process taking the train from Milwaukee to Chicago: I start thinking about my family, being Superman.... AKA Dad, the leader I want to be, brainstorming about new teammates, checking in on former colleagues, wondering what my legacy will be, strengthening my Country's distributed energy resources, and preparing mentally for the massive opportunity in front of me. I'm sure day 1 will be filled with the typical day 1 onboarding stuff, but I'm already past that. The time to act is now, the only statement that seems to matter: If not us, who, if not now, when? Let's do this!

How I plan to be 1 step closer to the American Energy Market , and I want to meet you there… In just a few days, I will be returning to the USA for the third time this year. And I couldn’t be more excited! 👉 From the 9th to the 12th, I'll be at the RE+ fair in Anaheim. (California, what a wonderful state—I truly love it. Any tips or suggestions?) The days ahead will be packed: →Dealing with jet lag →Managing a heavy workload → Dealing with different food and habits → Meeting countless people in the solar business → Experiencing a major trade fair in the energy industry But none of this intimidates me; in fact, it fuels my energy. I'm getting better at managing the workload, handling pressure, navigating different cultural approaches, and tackling the countless things to study and learn. Every experience, every person I've met, every product analyzed, and every customer I've assisted has enriched my professional journey, and for that, I am deeply grateful. I'd love to meet with you to discuss: ⚡market trends ⚡understand your needs ⚡explore potential collaborations Especially regarding non-Chinese and locally made American raw material supplies for solar cells, junction boxes, frames, EVA/POE, backsheet, and glass. How about catching up over a beer among friends? Send me a DM! I’m excited to hear your needs and exchange ideas with you! ___________________ If this is the first time you see my posts: I am Francesca. I connect solar PV companies to the best-fit material & equipment suppliers around the globe 🌍 ♻️Follow me for more!

Very good read: From a utility standpoint, fiber connects all the utility’s SCADA infrastructure for monitoring substations and various devices out on the distribution side. It is also being utilized as a mechanism to backhaul data from its AMI electric meters, but the two-way capability of fiber is about to become much more important in the months and years to come. ** Completely agree ** “Virginia has invested a tremendous amount of money in fiber, even before the BEAD money arrived,” Lee said. “Our latest VATI application is to backfill the remaining holes that don’t have fiber access and targeting those pockets that, for a variety of reasons, were not included in previous applications. Our service area for fiber doesn’t exactly match our electric service territory. For example, we’ll be providing service to a substantial number of Dominion Energy customers as well, through an agreement with them that allows us to utilize their middle mile fiber facilities. We do have some pockets and some outlying areas of our electric service territory where another vendor got RDOF or CAF money to service a small portion of our service area.” *** And, yes, IOU middle mile build outs should be part of the solution whenever possible *** #Broadband #power #parternships #middlemile #connectivity #powerindustry https://lnkd.in/dcauXCpz

Wonderful article on Mayuri Farlinger!
A great interview with IBC member Mayuri Farlinger, President of Alliant Energy from the Des Moines Business Record. Farlinger talks changes, innovation and goals in the energy industry and how increase in demand for data centers has effected industry demands. “Once I came in for my internship and then started in those early years, I realized that the work that we do within this industry has such a big impact on everybody’s lives every single day. A lot of times customers don’t even think about us, but they rely on the service that we provide for everything that they do,” Farlinger said. https://lnkd.in/giE8khHS

Today, Long Island takes a 924-megawatt step toward inflation proof power with the award of Sunrise Wind. Together with Ørsted and Eversource Energy, Haugland Group LLC will provide opportunities to thousands of Long Islanders to rethink career paths closer to home. Whether joining the construction workforce through union apprenticeship, or college track professionals looking for careers in energy and infrastructure. Haugland Group will build the onshore component, transporting and distributing the power generated from the offshore wind turbines converting wind into energy. Powered with local union workforce, while building on-ramps and removing barriers to careers with good wages and benefits. Top stories today ⚡ ESO races to fill skills gap before summer transition https://buff.ly/42Utswq National Grid ESO is seeking to fill another 150 roles before it takes on an expanded role this summer. The organisation’s new chief operating officer Kayte O'Neill gives Utility Week an exclusive update on recruitment plans in preparation for the transition into the National Energy System Operator (NESO). 👨👩👧👦 Power to the people officer | How Chris Norbury’s unconventional rise shaped him as Eon CEO https://buff.ly/430hWj5 The chief people officer turned CEO of E.ON UK reflects on why the energy transition is a “human challenge”, how Eon UK’s new business model in Coventry could be replicated across the country, the unintended consequences of standing charge reform and how utilities can defend their right to make a profit. ⚠️ UK is facing an ‘energy security crunch point’ https://buff.ly/3UWR0Pj Delays to bringing new generation such as Hinkley Point C onto the UK’s energy system will create an energy security “crunch point” in 2028, new research has found. Analysis by Public First, commissioned by Drax Group, found that “a perfect storm” of an increase in demand, the retirement of existing assets, and delays to the delivery of Hinkley will culminate in demand exceeding secure dispatchable and baseload capacity by 7.5GW at peak times in 2028.

What kind of jobs are energy efficiency programs creating? I have often championed energy efficiency work for being a powerhouse for job creation, but Unrooz' work doing listening sessions with environmental and social justice communities in California uncovered that communities are frustrated with inadequate opportunities. "In addition to strategies for enhancing training and educational offerings, listening session conversations repeatedly called out the need to link these trainings with “high road” jobs that are well-paid and offer benefits and paths for advancement. Participants communicated that they see a limited number of such jobs in the clean energy industry and wanted to see more direct connections between training and job placement." Do you have a ticket for our upcoming Summer Party at Kvilhaugen Gård on Wednesday, August 21st? If not, you can secure your tickets by visiting this link: https://lnkd.in/dWmcVsTA The first speaker of the evening will be Bjarne Rosvoll Bøklepp from Equinor, who will be giving a talk titled "Data driven decision making - are we there yet?". Summary of the presentation: "How do we know if the decisions we make are good if we are not able to analyze them?" The first part of this presentation establishes the structural or functional relation between data and decision making and covers the main definitions and assumptions used. The second part is about some work and studies carried out in Equinor related to a proposed framework for quantifying the utility and hence the value of subsurface information. The third part introduces the business decision schema and framework based on the "6 elements of decision quality" principles, currently being implemented in the OSDU data platform enabling project linage and decision tracking and analysis. Lastly, a simplified well planning/construction use case is shown as an example of how the decision framework can be utilized for the realtime decision process in well placement optimization.
