A must-read thread for the youth sports community from a parent and coach on X 🎯 We aim to teach parents this exact mindset, and hope more coaches begin to understand it as well. What do you think, are parents missing point of youth sports?
This is the approach I have when I coach. Setting the expectation with the parents from the start of the program is what I do to help the parents understand the goal of the program. Yes this wont 100% stop parents from treating youth sports like its the World Series bottom of the 9th inning but it has helped me.
It’s like the old NCAA commercials said… 99%* of us will go pro in something else other than sports 🤝

2moYouth sports is so much more than the sport itself; it’s about teamwork, development, supporting yourself and those around you, and working towards a goal. There’s so much goodness that can come out of these formative experiences…well beyond going D1 or pro in that sport.
