T-2 weeks until I'm heading to Denver for #WBENC2024!!! It's my 5th time going to this humongous, inspiring, overwhelming, and uplifting event. Here's some of the best advice I've gotten over the years (most of it from my favorite WBE Stars and supplier diversity gurus Heather Cox and Liz Cullen Whitehead): 1. Choose a few target companies. Don't try to hit every booth in the expo. 2. Do your research ahead of time and connect the dots between what problems your target companies are facing and how you can help solve them. 3. Connect on a human level. Don't be a "pitching robot." 4. Meeting corporate members is great, but don't overlook WBE to WBE connections. (For example, if you need market research help, please talk to me!) 5. Finally (and most critically) WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES!! My favorite sparkly kicks are a conference must-have Did I miss anything??

The first demofest was created, planned, and run in 3 weeks. We were hoping for 50-100 people to show. It doesn't matter if you are Nike, the Chicago Bulls or Burger King. Most brands need to do the following 3 things... 1) Engage and if possible create an ongoing relationship with their target customer. 2) Understand who they are, and what they like and use this information to provide personalised customer journeys, experiences and offers. 3) Sell their "stuff" to that customer.
