Helping researchers aroung the world increase the impact of their findings, through creativity! Founder of Cooked Illustrations

It was 2021 when I first took on interns at Cooked Illustrations. By then, my freelancing career-turned-design agency project was a little over a year old since founding. Originally it was meant to be in the events industry, but COVID ended that really quickly! I, honestly, had no idea how to manage people, let alone figure out the best way to support new creatives in developing their skills and ideas. Trial by fire for everyone involved! My approach at the time, and still today, is to support the intern's interests and skills development as decided by them. It is my job as creative director to 1.) find them client projects that match their development goals, and, in the absence, 2.) to create projects that will meet both intern and company's goals. This poster is from a series inspired by the work of Rewilding Britain, with the express goal of introducing lay people to the idea of #rewilding. A passion of our intern at the time. I tasked them with doing research and ideation, and from those initial seeds we sketched, scratched out, redrew, tweaked and eventually landed on these final educational posters that are still very fire 🔥 , if I do say so myself. If you would like some copies for your school or education projects, do let me know and I am happy to share the files. #skillsdevelopment #learntobeamanager #creativeskills #sciencecommunicationagency #sciencecommunication

Wanted! For the recovery of native woodland. Reintroduction of the grey wolf to the wildlands of the British Islands, specifically in Scotland, would, in theory, have a positive knock-on effect (called a trophic cascade). By helping regulate deer and other herbivore populations, the grey wolf would allow depleted landscapes to slowly recover their native woodland growth. Thus, one carefully monitored species reintroduction could support biodiversity, provide new nature services, and even alternative livelihoods to the human caretakers of the forests. This poster is 1 in a series of 3 talking about how the reintroduction of three mammals to the UK's ecosystem would have tremendous positive effects. Keep an eye out for the other two coming soon! #rewilding #sciencecommunication #conservationeducation
