The Spring 2024 issue of Exhibition journal is now out. “Alternative Realities” surveys many ways exhibitions can question existing systems and open pathways to new and more equitable futures. At a time when what divides us can feel almost insurmountable, authors share how they are harnessing hope, challenging prevailing narratives, and upending established museum practices as they seek to reshape our vision of what is possible—within and beyond the museum. Exhibition is a journal of exhibition theory and practice for museum professionals published by the American Alliance of Museums. #Legacy150: 'The Museum will not be Decolonised' conference schedule is now live https://lnkd.in/gyTEreAh Sumaya Kassim writes that “Museums are not neutral in their preservation of history. In fact, arguably, they are sites of forgetfulness and fantasy”. Her discussion was based on work she and colleagues did with Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and it holds true of many museums throughout the UK. It is the “forgetfulness” of the objects’ lived history and the “fantasy” of these objects being out of time that is endemic in museum spaces. In this conference we discuss objects held in non-ethnographic museums and explore what they mean as representations of human experience, how we can accurately represent their lived experience using digital technologies and their weight as political and social signifiers in the contemporary world. The conference provides a space for interested parties to discuss the ways objects are presented and their histories represented.

Exclusion happens everywhere in the museum. From the objects that the curator choose to collect, to the presence or absence of stories in the interpretation and the exhibitions, and the displays. How those interpretations are framed, how a museum reaches out to communities to tell particular stories or to tell stories they are already telling. Museums choose stories they are telling. And they do so in a way that suggest or we suggest it is for our core audience. And these are the people who already sees themselves in the stories that we present, in the objects on Display. And they are the people who are already coming. We serve them, and we continue to serve them. But many lives and experiences are not represented in the stories. Or at worst even considered in the planning and development of exhibitions, programmes and events. #20daylinkedinchallengewithhaoma #inclusivity #museums

Generative Artificial Intelligence Revealed: Understanding AI from Technical Depth to Business Insights to Responsible Adoption is coming soon.
Spotting your book on someone else's bookshelf is always a delightful sight. You know you've truly made it when you can detect a fine layer of dust gracefully outlining the last copy that sold. :) Very avant-garde. 📚✨😄 #ai #artificialintelligence #artificialintelligenceforbusiness #business #machinelearning #booklovers #book #bookcommunity #bookclub
