Advances in seed testing With the rapid advancements in technology, the testing of seeds for propagation is encountering numerous possibilities for innovative approaches. Fytagoras, specializing in seed physiology, actively engages in harnessing advanced technologies to establish credible seed testing methods. This involvement includes scientific and engineering activities, as well as the leadership of the "ISTA Advanced Technologies Committee" by Bert van Duijn from Fytagoras. Recent discussions between ISTA President Keshavulu kunusoth, ISTA Executive Craig McGill, and ATC-Chair Bert van Duijn have explored and deliberated upon the possibilities for "Advancements in Seed Testing" as well as ISTA workshops and seminars on this topic. The focal points of these discussions have been imaging technologies, molecular technologies, and artificial intelligence. These meetings, held at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand, also involved visits to the New Zealand AsureQuality Seed Testing Station and the Hyperspectral Imaging Facilities at Te Ohu Rangahau Kai, a cooperative community of food researchers affiliated with AgResearch at the Massey University Campus. #seedtesting #ISTA #MassayUniversity #hyperspectralimaging #advancedtechnologies #AsureQuality #AgResearch #Fytagoras #germination #seeds

🎉 Award at Jugend forscht! 🎉 We are proud to announce that NUVISAN has been recognized at Jugend forscht for its outstanding project, Black “gold” from mushrooms – melanin extraction from Armillaria mellea . This prestigious recognition is a testament to our unwavering dedication to fostering future talents in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In this project, our Microbiological chemistry department collaborated with young talent to establish a protocol for cultivating fungi in shake flasks. His aim was to find the conditions that produce the highest yield of melanin by varying the ingredients of culture media and to conduct first purification steps of melanin. Congratulations to Dr. Shagnika Das from Amity Institute Of Biotechnology, Amity University, Noida for securing a prestigious visiting lectureship at the renowned Laboratory of Oceanology and Geosciences (LOG), Centre national de la recherche scientifique, University of Lille-France, from May 4th to June 3rd, 2024.
