Well, here we are. It has been quite a ride, many ups and downs, but way more good times than bad. I need to thank all of my sales managers, sales directors, general managers, regional and country directors, at the last count around 8,6,9,7 and 5 respectively, for their constant help and support. The countless members of the service and production teams for putting up with me and not moaning too much whenever I dropped the ball. All of my sales colleagues past and present, way too many to mention, for their encouragement, advice, piss taking and support, this job would have been impossible without you. Being now 60 years old, I feel this job is no longer for me, however if I were just 10 years younger, Elis would be the very best company for me to work for. The 35 year old me would be buzzing, the service we offer today is far far better than it ever was and what I believe is planned for the future will keep us at least 12 months ahead of any competition, like it has always been. To the members of the service team who may not agree 100% with that last comment, remember how many customers your plant services and how many customers actually complain in any given month. It is such a small percentage, far more customers are happy with us, they just don't have the time to call you to tell you so. When I joined Sunlight there were big walls between the departments, sales never talked to service, production never talked to sales and transport never talked to anyone. Over the years we have knocked those walls down and we are so much better for it. My advice to everyone is for you all to keep talking. Especially my newer sales colleagues, your service team colleagues are a goldmine of information, so make them your best friends. A box of biscuits at Christmas or a round of ice lollies in the summer go a long way. With that I'll say goodbye. We are off travelling. See you later.
** Congratualtions Simon Ossitt ** After 24 hugely successful years at Elis Simon is retiring. We had a great night last night not only celebrating the success of the team in Q2 but also the success that Simon Ossitt is. Its very rare now especially in sales that someone reaches a 24 year career in one company but with Simon it is no surprise, speaking with various people around the business the same words to describe Simon always come up, dapper, committed, knowledgeable, gentleman, honest, successful. Simon it has been a pleasure, you have been an example to your peers at Elis in an outstanding career and you will be missed. Enjoy the free time and all that single malt whisky 😜 👏👏 #elis #salesexcellence #team

This picture is too good to pass up! The motto of supporting people with disabilities is nothing for us without us. If the leadership for your accessibility plan comes from people who gained those positions through privilege. You take resources from elements of the organization that have supported the actions that have excluded. Those people with disabilities that are involved are tokens with no authority or position to push for change. Then why are we surprised that the strategies and plans promise everything and deliver nothing. This is across the public and private sectors. It represents decades of strategies and plans that have created no change. Perhaps if inclusion and accessibility is truly important you need to elevate those who have experience barriers to lead. You them have to build accountability into the plan and if leaders with privilege fail to create change, hold them responsible. Lets stop having the wolves guarding the sheep pen.
“If you wish to be a success in the world, promise everything, deliver nothing.” - Napoleon Bonaparte

Sustainable Finance Strategist | Executive Leader | Climate Diplomacy- COP28 | Board Governance and Accountability
This marks a moment of global solidarity for collective action. The UAE Consensus has been passed. The text recognises the need for deep, rapid and sustained reductions if humanity is to limit temperature rises to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels. Together we can redefine economies to achieve a paradigm shift within planetary boundaries.

Luckily our region is committed to saving this #world.. BUT good luck stopping #greenhousegasemissions from the big nations because #greenhouse #gases are the #1 pollutant across the globe. Good luck telling #Germany to stop subsidizing the #coal mining sector Telling #Britain to revoke the new #oil and #gas exploration licenses they gave over the past two years Telling the #US to stop its ramping up of oil production Telling #France and #Italy stop their reliance on #fossilfuels mostly from #Africa #Doublestandards when the #industrial world tries to bully our region... Our region is far more advanced vs the industrial world which burnt down the #environment with 200 years of guzzling fossil #fuel to advance their economies... Meanwhile, our region is heavily investing in #renewables #renewableenergy #renewablepower #renewablefuture

The main highlight with COP28 has been the commitment to reduce the use of fossil fuels, one commitment that I feel is not getting enough credit is the UAE Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action. 134 countries, covering 70% of the world’s land, have signed the Emirates Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action, committing to integrate food into their climate plans by 2025. The declaration was signed by many countries with the highest food-related greenhouse gas emissions, including Brazil, China, the European Union, the United States. I am proud of my country Zimbabwe uniting with other countries and I can say the UAE delivered for farmers with the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate increasing support for agricultural innovation ad research from 8 Billion to 17 Billion to support innovation in agriculture. #COP28 #uniteactdeliver #partnerships4growth

Standing ovation after 'world first' agreement at #COP28UAE!! “Let us finish what we have started," said COP28 President Sultan al-Jaber, as the room erupted in applause. "We have language on fossil fuels in our final agreement for the first time ever." He called it "historic". The deal is not legally-binding, but calls on all countries to move away from the use of fossil fuels, for the first time in almost 30 years of COP climate summits. New Scientist said: “For the first time in the history of the COP process, the phrase "fossil fuels" has appeared in a climate summit agreement, as part of a promise for the world to begin "transitioning away" from the leading cause of global warming! Fossil fuels will not be “phased out”, but the world has now agreed that we must rapidly transition away from using oil, gas and coal in order to reach net zero by 2050, in a historic moment at the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. #Britishbusiness #businesscommunity #internationaltrade #ecosystem #britishbusinesscommunity #cop28uae #ESG

As Cop28 concludes in the UAE, we congratulate all those that worked together to achieve the historic UAE Consensus to accelerate climate action. Going forward, we will all need to play our part in converting these words into real and impactful actions. Dutch Foundations is working closely with our partners and clients to curb all emissions generated from our activities. It will be a long but rewarding journey towards Net Zero. More to come on this in the near future. #cop28 #uae #climatechange #climateaction #dutchfoundations

🌟 Canto SKO left an indelible mark on my career journey, standing out as THE best #SKO experience. It wasn't just about enduring a typical PowerPoint parade and being talked at; it was an immersive blend of reward, inspiration, and genuine camaraderie. No checkboxes here—just real, impactful team building in one luxurious and stunning location. The schedule struck the perfect balance, allowing us ample time for both learning and leisure. The cuisine whispered, "You're worth it," echoing the sentiment of appreciation from our leaders throughout our time in Austin, Texas. We departed feeling more than just colleagues; we were a tight knit family with a shared purpose. This photo, with our stunning daily view, captures the magic of unity and achievement. It exemplifies how investing in company culture and morale yields tremendous results. This is what effective team building looks like—more than just a checkbox, it's about delivering tangible outcomes and fostering genuine connection. What a phenomenal time indeed! #Canto SKO #TeamBuilding #CompanyCulture #bestcompanytoworkfor #leadershiplessons
